Katina made history that day because she was and still is the only Greek actress to win an Oscar

Even though the actual executive producer, Hal Wallis, was the one who worked on Casablanca, Jack Warner took full credit for the Oscar once it succeeded. Hal resigned and moved to Paramount the day after this

Katina Paxinou, one of the finest Greek actresses ever!

I might be wrong (please correct me), but i think Katina Paxinou, was the first non-American who won an Oscar

During the war years there was a ration on precious metals, and so Oscar statutes were temporarily made of plaster. In 1946 all were replaced with the real deal. The base of the award was also raised to make it more modern.

Is there not an official presentation of presenter presenting Oscar to the each
winner, I think yes.  Academy please keep digging for GOLD.

Jack Warner wasn't producer of Casablanca. It was Hall Walice. But Jack Warner was rude person and after that Warner Bros lost his greatest producer.

One of the most undeserved Best Actor wins of all-time. I don't even need to say who should have won that year.

La mia adorata Jennifer Jones dei suoi prim'anni!

Axtors and audience are quite modestly dressed, probably due to the general mood of the war. Compare the awards for 1940, Ginger Rogers wears a stunning gown.

Wasn't it around this time that the statuettes were made of plaster?

Jennifer Jones would have made a great Scarlett O'hara.

the More the Merrier should have won best Picture, Brown should have won best directing, Rooney should have won best actor, Arthur for best actress, Coburn for supporting actor and goodard for supporting actress imo:)

Amazing. And the show is run by human garbage cans in 2022.

Jennifer Jones was unbelievably bad actress. On of the biggest mistakes that academy has ever made. Barbara Stanwyck should have won this one.
