Cleaning is half the job when being a brewer. Sometimes it's more. Great video!

Great video! For me what I try to do is scrub the kettle as clean as I can with a brush and then the PBW wash is mainly just for the pump/chiller/lines and just a rinse on the kettle. That way you can re-use your PBW assuming it doesn't get too gross. PBW is pretty expensive and can add up quick.

I got to brew on a buddy’s Clawhammer last weekend and I’ll tell you what…cleanup was a breeze!!! Making me rethink my whole propane 4 life mindset…

Great video. I think it is time to invest in a clawhammer system.

1oz per gallon seems like a LOT of PBW. I use 1TBSP per 5 gallons and get great results.

It is recommend to rinse an equipment with some acid solution (citric acid or starsan) after alkali clean such PBW.

I circulate the pump with hot tap water with multiple rinses then spray it down with starsan

Pbw after every use is not something over ever considered necessary but I do not run a chiller block so I've got very low chance of gunk getting stored up anywhere in the system

I used to run a chiller block and it was notoriously bad for getting blocked with shite and ruining beer.

I can't recommend Oxiclean Free as a PBW alternative enough. Been using it for years, and it's works wonders for cheap. The store brand stuff works fine, too, as long as it's fragrance free. I got lucky and found All's version on a closeout for 75% off and bought 4 tubs. Much likelier to go on sale than PBW at your homebrew store.

My heating element has a powdery oxidation looking residue all over it, even after running pbw through and rinsing it. Is there some way I can bring it back to its original polished finish?

Oxiclean Free. The green top. Does a great job. And cheap.

How do you get the heating element so clean?

Finally pulled the trigger on some PBW. It's pricey, but dish soap and bar keepers friend makes for a major struggle getting it clean.

Too much PBW! Kegland who makes the same cleaner under a different name recommends 20gm or one supplied scoop per 8L as being sufficient for regular cleaning, just scrub and rinse the kettle first with some hot water. I use this ratio myself and get great results, you could halve that amount you used and get the same results as the recirculation is doing the work for you

2 tablespoons per gallon. It’s exactly right

What a waste of PBW, use about 1-2 gal, only need 1.5 OZ
