The reanimation jutsu can be retooled into an immortality jutsu. A pair of shinobi could agree to use themselves as a sacrifice for their own reanimation and just have the other perform the ceremony. Yeah they technically die for a second but they basically attain immortality without having to victimize anyone else. And it would require absolute trust in your partner since after they reanimate you they could take control of you. But still, Im surprised the writers didn't have Madara do that.

Actually 1 flaw you forgot to mention is that if the reanimated shinobi has any dying wishes (Sai's brother for example wanted to see Sai's completed book) and those wishes were fulfilled (it can be simpler but i dont have the time to explain. But simply put, their soul will be at peace and will release itself from the edo tensei no jutsu
