New Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Emits Fake Exhaust Sounds 🤭

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N was recently shown off at Goodwood. The sportier model houses two electric motors and a new 84 kWh battery pack, which combine to produce up to 478 kW of power (or 650 hp) in Boost mode or 448 kW of power (or 609 hp) in normal driving. The former propels it to 60mph in just 3.4 seconds! Oh, and there’s even a fake exhaust sound at idle.

The fake exhaust is the best i've heard, the nerburgring guy did two laps, yes two laps at full power and one in traffic, and the fake exhaust was amazing, kinda weird with it only having 1 gear but it was not weird in a bad way it made the car more cool than it already was.

Okay, that thing is awesome. Not ONLY does it look like a delorean (sort of) but has a DUAL CLUTCH SHIFTING SYSTEM and a "simulation exhuast". Amazing...I want one of these.

The "fake sound" discussion reminds me of the age old "why do vegetarians eat veggie meat" discussion. And the simple answer is now the same as back then, because the "fake" offers advantages and disadvantages over the original that different people value differently. Me personally I value that the "fake" can be silent, economical and sensible, but still offers me, when I want it, the performance and feeling of the original without the expenses the original brings. I would not like to sit in a noisy race car while commuting.

it’s not just simulating exhaust sound. part of y this changes the game is that it simulates a DCT. knowing what gear to be in on corners and hearing where ur at on rev range is far easier to control and be maintain consistency than a pedal with variable 0-100% acceleration. this car is exactly what the EV market needs for enthusiasts to jump on board.

Stop Complaining About Fake engine noise..We need something to make car fun and engaging, as long as the car is fast and can simulate a transmission we will be ok. are you guys forgetting there are manual electric cars? How many kids do Muffler deletes on slow v8s it’s not about the speed its about the sound and feeling

Imo the futuristic fake noise sounds better than any engine. Specifically the Taycan sound. I believe the N has the futuristic sound as well. I want my car to sound like a spaceship!

Hyundai is not screwing around.
Stock just might be undervalued.
Makes me proud to be a customer since 2011.

You are the best lad I heard pronounce Hyundai correctly. Cheers!

On track the well calibrated sound generator is really helpful especially for an EV. Sounds strange but on Anneau du Rhin with my EV6 AWD I had to concentrate too much on HUD and track markers as you always are too fast without sound of engine and gearbox. Funny but for racing an EV must give more feedback to the driver.

The fake exhaust is for people and animals around the vehicle. Keeps people alert and cats from trying to sleep under it

People criticize IONIQ 5N by its sound and clutch are all fake. However, it is an option that only Hyundai can provide that other companies do not. The EU will ban the sale of internal combustion engines within a few decades, and not only in the EU, but in many countries as well. In this situation, Hyundai's attempt to transplant the soul of the internal combustion engine into an electric vehicle deserves praise.

Also, the 'fake' sound actually works VERY WELL and make the driving experience smoother and more fun. These options can be turned off at any time, and the '650hp' & '0-100 in 3.4 sec' BEAST can be transformed into the normal IONIQ 5, which is already one of the best family EVs. It has all the same conveniences such as enormous interior space and V2L.

The best part of the IONIQ 5N is not numbers like '0-100 3.4sec' or '650hp' (although it is already powerful enough). lt has the best driving feel, best cornering and best chassis of any EV under $100K currently. IONIQ 5N recorded a lap time of 7min 45sec at the Nürburgring and it is similar to Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S Plaid.

EV's output drastically decreases after driving at maximum power a few times due to the heat of the battery. However, the IONIQ 5N remains fine even if driven at full power all day. Hyundai may not the best in EV technology, but they have the world's best technology in battery heat management. Tesla's '1000hp' is only a peak number. I think sustainability of power is more important.

If this car was made by a German brand like BMW, it would start at at least $150K. But IONIQ 5N starts at $65K. This is by far the best value options for anyone considering a sports EV.
