INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons (28g) olive oil
1 medium yellow onion - diced
1 large green bell pepper - diced
1 1/2 pounds (680g) lean ground beef 85 or 90% works well
1/2 teaspoon crushed hot red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon (6g) salt or to taste
1 tablespoon (9g) chili powder
5 cloves garlic minced
1 tablespoon (14g) Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon (14g) cider vinegar
1 cup (240g) ketchup
2 tablespoons (26g) brown sugar
1/2 cup (120g) water plus more if needed
4 hamburger buns

I've been making sloppy joes recently, but instead of using a bun, I've been stuffing bell peppers with the sloppy joe mix. A great meal for low carb people!

Sloppy Joe’s always reminds me of Hemingway and Key West!
I once visited his favorite bar there, and ate my first Sloppy Joe. Yum! The bar was founded by Joe Russel who became a good friend to Hemingway. His bar was called sloppy because of the floor always being wet from melting ice. Hemingway told Joe to change the name to Sloppy Joe’s Bar, and the favorite meat filled bun to a Sloppy Joe. That happened in the 1930’s.

Actually, when making Joes for my kids, I found that hotdog buns are the perfect vehicle. The filling doesn't spill out so easily, but it still tastes the same. We always called them "sloppy dogs".

I'm 61 and we still eat homemade sloppy joes, my husband loves them. Now, I have to have mine with a drizzle of yellow mustard, a slice of American cheese and hamburger dills. Salty chips and a Cold Beer on the side. I'm there for it 😄 People really don't know how much they love them, they think of the stuff from a can. No. I once made 10 pounds of my recipe and took to our neighborhood pool party. They ate all of it 😄

You say you don't make "healthy" food on this channel but actually you do. You make good food from scratch using real ingredients. That's definitely healthy, especially when compared to ultra processed foods you find elsewhere. Love the channel, keep up the great work!!

My man can cook bro. I made this tonight exactly the same and it was absolutely delicious. That and I've made his recipe for butter and cherry tomato pasta and it goes just as hard. An easy, delicious meal for a good price. Thanks fella!

i just made this recipe. will def make again with modifications.... eliminate vinegar, it overpowers. ketchup already has a lot of vinegar in it. At least the Trader Joes does. Chili pepper is a bit much too so i will use less. One of best sloppy joe recipes ive tried. Loaded with flavor.

For those who don’t eat meat, try with Morning Star Farms crumbles, very good. Your recipe looks like a must try, never thought of adding the garlic.
