Cured my depression, best thing I've ever done. I went from a state of work from home, stay at home, order in, over eat, smoker to the absolute opposite in six months thanks to cold water swimming.

I can't swim, but I do enjoy cold plunges after being in a hot tub or sauna. It improves my mood, makes my skin look good, and reduces my leg pain (I have pain in my right leg). It also makes me feel strong.

I love cold water swimming! It’s rejuvenating! I do a warm up first then swim. It calms my mind and rests my body. The water seems warm when you’re moving.

My gym pool is outdoor, I tried to swim after sunset since January twice a week. The pool is not warm, but not ice cold. The worse is the walk from the locker to the pool 🥶😰

I don't go swimming but I've been taking a cold shower every single morning for the last 20 years or so and I never got a cold all this time. I mean I sneeze or have a running nose from time to time but never a proper cold with like sore throat or fever. On top of that I flush my nose with a cup of warm salty water twice a day. Don't know which one is working or maybe both but without a doubt it is absolutely effective.

doing cold shower is much difficult comparing to cold swimming, you stand in such very thin water and air flowing through, my advise is go straight to the clean ocean, submerging in cold water keeps away the air, with swimcap unless you want to keep it real short like under 2 minutes, dont overstay without headgear, i have tried that and that could kill you for sure even you could stand upright, by the time you noticed that you could no longer command yourself, a sudden current could carry you away, freezing the brain is very dangerous, go in pair or group if applicable, remember have swimcap ready even you aim for extreme, you may try bare head in the last minute and in very shallow water i suggest knee depth, you will see how helpless you can be without your heart supporting your brain in such condition, 10 to 15degree celciius water is the best temperature it is very ideal for swimming where you could go for some distance, spending around 10 to 30 minutes enjoying water view with sealives, the next level will be under 10 celcius degree which is more like bathing, you cant do much swimming, is all about endurance therein, ice bathing is just like standing in shower with cold water, too hardcore and almost no fun i find, overall i find cold swimming is very helpful in lessening moral burden, in summer or in places where cold water beach isnt available, i suggest you practise fasting like what Muslims and Buddhists do, cold swimming and fasting both allows you to calibrate your state of being for the better, but remember never overdo, just like anything in nature, overdoing is worse off than not doing it at all

I have been swimming in cold water for 5 years and share this passion with a large community in Switzerland. Keeping a regular routine (everyday) has healed me and I witness, it has transformed many ☺ I noticed starting with a pair can help to start the process and keep you motivated !!

As a male, two things will happen when going into cold water!.
1. Need to go to the bathroom.
2. My buddy will shrink down to nothing....

You either can do it or you can’t. If you can it’s incredible. Always give something a try, research before doing it and be safe in the water

I swam in a hole in ice three times within a week. Haven't kept a record of how many times I've done it this winter. It's a great feeling after a dip!
