UK metal stars Architects conducted a short tour of the UK at the tail end of 2011. Rhythm hooked up with drum prodigy Dan Searle before their Bristol show for an intimate tour of his new hybrid SJC set-up, his hefty Zildjian collection and skull-crushing 808.

This drummer is such a cool guy. Very refreshing in a scene filled with so many egos.

Totally agree with the 2-floor toms. Hit it every time I can as well!

"If there's any chance in a set for me to hit both toms at the same time as hard as I can, I'm happy" hahaha I feel him so much on this !

the pad is used for subdrops dude! gives the start of heavy breakdown-based parts a real boom! have a look online for drum modules and trigger pads, they're not cheap though!

@MrHatMan94 Basically when a breakdown or powerful part in a song comes, he hits the sample pad, which is hooked up the the Roland SPD-S module, and it samples a blast of bass which sounds similar to the low end of an explosion and with a good enough sound system, shakes the entire venue. That is an "808 bass drop." The huge monitor to Dan's right is his own that he brings to "feel" the 808 and get pumped live! I know you feel the need to add that to your setup now haha;)

@MrMaccelinho yeah, they'll make up a click track in a music software program that has all the time changes and stuff, then make it into mp3 and put it on their ipod

haha! it seems that we've got the same taste in drum heads! i've been using power center snare heads from the start of drumming and i thought they were very good, but then i've found ST heads and now i'm stuck with them for the rest of my life! ST are wonderful heads and the name speaks for itself- they really are super tough and last forever! all of my toms are G2 too! they are hard to tune, but when you do it it sounds amazing and also last for ages!

i've shown many people my various drum sets... i always let them hear what it sounds like in a brief jam session at the very least. i dunno about you, but i've never bought a kit simply because i liked the way it looks.
