Just be mindful they're willing to be on camera and are aware they can't speak too freely about this subject. Hence the positive tone to the 'wall'.

The first person has it right. Finland is known for its "free" media, but in reality, anything harmful to big companies etc. just simply doesn't get published. My friend had her doctor abuse her and went to appear on TV along with other women. 15 minutes before it was their turn to appear, the producer shut it down. They had been told from the higher ups not to broadcast since this doctor was a big shot and had threatened to retaliate. He was also sued, and walked away with no charges, despite having many women to witness against him.

I do agree with the first part of the girl said, every country has censorship. Why else would we go to alternative media sites?

Colombian living in China here. I come from a democratic country but living in China had make me think about all the disadvantages of democracy, let me elaborate.

We tend to see democracy as something sacred or an undeniable truth because it reflects our freedom to choose our common destiny as a nation, but are we really choosing something? In fact we only get the options that people in real power and mainstream media allow us to get and they’re promoted depending on the corporate interests in order to manipulate our opinions, democracy is an electoral show that creates rating and profit to the same corporate powers.

On the other hand, democracy is a slow agreement process that sometimes seem to look for progress of society but very often goes backwards as the waves of public opinion change depending on the issues and propagandas to push different agendas. So democracy can push us forward and four years later it can push us backwards to the very same place we were before, at the end we’re going nowhere.

Some non democratic societies work better than most democratic countries in the world and Chinese success is a prove of that. Democracy shouldn’t be taken as something sacred or undeniable truth because it only benefit the corporate powers hiding behind the political system. In fact, there’s people above the constitutional order in western countries, there’s people that can afford to pay congressman to make the laws they need, there’s people that owns the FED and many other institutions, there’s people above the president that would never be touched by the justice system.

We must understand that there are different cultures with different mindset and ways to understand things and Chinese civilization is older than democracy.

I think they're fine. They're just as entitled to their opinions as anyone else is.

I mean, Americans may think that they're missing out, not being able to see Tucker Carlson, Donald Trump, Joe Rogan or Alex Jones, but you can't have everything yknow.

Not everyone needs the richness of the US media environment.

Censorship to one degree or another is a global occurrence, but the degree of consequences on people crossing established lines of censorship is the most profound distinction. In addition, the variance of consequences that are based on certain people over others is yet another distinction, when comparing an Eastern culture over Western culture. Perceived class, social, nationalism, and cultural expectations, tolerance, and the lack thereof, play a considerable part as well.

The funny thing is that no comments believe that they’re telling the truth. As a Chinese, I am sure that they’re telling the truth. They have a rather objective opinion about the wall. Whereas the comment section of this video is just pitiful.

You guys. Chinese people are not stupid. They are not clueless. It just depends on what world view you were brought up with, and each has their advantages and disadvantages. The first lady is right: every country has censorship in some way.

I am with the second guy, The wall is necessary but also a curse. its necessary to protect the ideology of a country no matter how worse it is but also the ensure the survival of the country .No matter how evil or corrupt the ideology of a govt is i think we can say the survival of the country is the main agenda
That again takes you to a fundamental question when does a Country become necessary i hope asian bose can make a video on that

In this modern era of social media, I’m sure most people anywhere in the world should be able to make their own decisions. Building a wall can also cause more curiosity and undesirable consequences. Education is a better priority.
