Do you need a lot of money to be a cyclist? We would like to think not, but if you want to be a professional cyclist it certainly appears that it helps if you have rich parents. Following on from USA Cycling's talent program announcement to charge a large amount of cash for their academy Dan and Si discuss how money helps boost success. This week in the world of cycling, we also learnt that cyclists logged 8.1 billion miles on Strava in 2020, and climbed 122 billion metres, and thanks to a Belgian Academic just how much energy you can save thanks to aerodynamics from sitting in a peloton.

I just wanted to say thanks GCN for all the hard work this year. It's been a year like no other in some ways, but personally I've spent more time on the bike than ever before and you've been there turning the cranks with us all. It would not have been the same without Hank's boundless energy, Ollie's understated knowledgeability, Manon adding that touch of genuine cycling pedigree, Si's valiant attempts to make us all laugh, Dan flying the flag for the mature viewer, and Conor who it can truly be said stands head and shoulders above the whole pack - we do appreciate what you do, as well as everyone else at GCN on and off screen. Thanks very much, happy Christmas all and keep the videos coming in 2021.

In my home country, having a $1000 bike means you are rich. Another man's entry-level is another man's top-tier.

I'll say it, Dan's knowledge of the sport and how it was changed throughout the years makes me feel like I've been a part of the community my whole life. Dan really makes the GCN Show and GCN Racing

No brainer. I knew cash was king when I turned up to the pump track on my spiderman themed kiddy tricycle

Dan's humour and puns are, admittedly, the highlight for me in these videos.

Dan, you are without a doubt the best gcn presenter and the reason why the majority of gcn followers got addicted to your videos. Keep up the good job!

Cycling has been elitist as long as I have been involved, which is a long time (44 years).

Kind of explains why Dan has some of the best teeth in the U.K.

Merry Christmas to all the team at GCN. Your videos have really helped me throughout this year (particularly during lockdown). The fact you managed to keep quality content all the way through has been a welcome relief to what has been a naff year. Roll on 2021
