'Roblox is a kids game'

giving my perspective on this topic bc it's something I feel strongly about kind of.

What is Roblox? ROBLOX is an online virtual playground and workshop, where kids of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn. It’s unique in that practically everything on ROBLOX is designed and constructed by members of the community. ROBLOX is designed for 13 to 18-year-olds, but it is open to people of all ages. Each player starts by choosing an avatar and giving it an identity. They can then explore ROBLOX — interacting with others by chatting, playing games, or collaborating on creative projects. Each player is also given their own piece of undeveloped real estate along with a virtual toolbox with which to design and build anything — be it a navigable skyscraper, a working helicopter, a giant pinball machine, a multiplayer “Capture the Flag” game, or some other, yet-to-be-dreamed-up creation. There is no cost for this first plot of virtual land. By participating and by building cool stuff, ROBLOX members can earn specialty badges as well as ROBLOX dollars (“Robux”). In turn, they can shop the online catalog to purchase avatar clothing and accessories as well as premium building materials, interactive components, and working mechanisms.

The amount of times where people made fun of me for playing a “Kids Game” as an adult is just ridiculous. Roblox isn’t a kids game. It’s a game for everyone. Yes, the main audience is indeed kids. But that doesn’t mean that teens and adults can’t play.

I love how non roblox players say "It's for babies" and they never played roblox before or if they played they played like a 10 years old game that's what happened in my school

I've played Roblox on and off since 2014, last played it in 2021 when I started gaining an interest in game development. I even got the free burrito from the Chipotle 2021 Halloween event. However, when I found out about how horribly Roblox and other devs treat game devs on the platform from the People Make Games videos on them, I dropped the game cold turkey and haven't logged in since. Roblox is a far cry from how it was back in ye olden days, and hearing about how poorly things like UGC is moderated or how Roblox can have 17+ games only exacerbates the issue of how trauma-inducing the platform is for kids.

I just can't in good conscience interact with and be on a platform this bad. Like, have you SEEN how insane some of the worst people on Roblox are? I can't think of any other community besides Roblox that houses such dangerous people. Which sucks because I was actually having a lot of fun, learning how to use Roblox Studio to make maps, learn programming for the first time, and have access to a tool that made game dev not so scary to jump into. Ah, but Roblox had to ruin that.

I am an Adult, I do play Roblox, but I also find myself into the Mature side of the spectrum of it as well, even thou Roblox have consider itself as a platform for kids, I hardly believe it too be true, and the moderators would go out of their way to take down anything that ruins their image that is deemed for kids only, yet headlines would send a bad image about the platform and their poor moderation that would have made it secure for kids and family, yet the older majority would seek out games that they themselvs would perfer and enjoy, it would hardly be made for everyone ifs bad apples were let to rot even more on the platform. Parents should have done more insight what their kids might find in there.

Every time someone says Roblox is a kids game, I tell them to let their kids play the 17+ section. But then they say that that's not for kids.

Also, I tell them to use Rovlox Studio
