Sorry, VTEC is not about more power. Where VTEC comes into play is at low/med power settings. AT WOT, valves are fully open, but VTEC alters both valve duration AND VALVE LIFT at lower power settings to keep combustion chamber efficiency high and so use less fuel when it is not needed. Thus VTEC is about fuel economy at lower power settings not max power output.

Steve, VTEC is not an F1 technology and was never used in F1. Variable valve timing is prohibited by the F1 technical regulations. VTEC is a great way to broaden the power band, but it makes sense only in a road going car (a bike or a boat), where you need both low rpm drivability and high rpm power. In a racing engine you generally do not need the former.

Vtec was originally just variable valve lift I think the later ivtec was the one that had variable valve timing. I don't know if it had valve lift as well?

Lol the Honda needs to pump more fuel to get it to plan just proves that they just don't have the torque of an etec the worst video ever didn't even give any info on torque economy and maintenance
