Some modern critics have tried to establish _Frankenstein_ as an early example of existentialist literature. There is a distinct connection between existentialism and absurdity. Human beings do not come to this world on their own free will but at the wish of others. Yet, they have to struggle to survive in this world. The monster was created by Victor and thus Victor becomes a parent figure. Victor disowns the creature just in the manner of an unwanted child. The creature thus declares a war against his creator and other humans. Many people too feel unwanted and suicidal at certain times in their lives. I've heard some people cursing "the day they were born". This immediately brings to mind the sorrow of Shelley's monster. So it's quite acceptable to treat this great novel to an existentialist study.
Anyway, thank you for these analyses sir.

Hi! Have you ever read "The Betrothed" by Alessandro Manzoni? That's the most studied classic novel in Italy - I love it :)
