I always saw Stella taking Octavia away for the weekends as a punishment for Stolas. There's no desire to bond with her daughter, only to make Stolas suffer

Stella doesn’t give two hoots about anyone but herself.

I think it's more "K, she exists" scenario at best. I mean, Stella doesnt seem to hate her daughter either. When Andrealphus points out that Octavia is an obstacle to Stolas' fortune, she's neither pissed or happy, just 'oh right'.

For Stella, it’s all about what benefits her and her comfort. If it does, then great. If it doesn’t, then get someone else to deal with it

See the thing is that all signs point to Octavia not really understanding her mom's abusing her dad, which means that she must not really be spending time with her mother because otherwise she'd know right away. It's not like Stella is good at hiding her awful personality.

Now that Octavia is staying at her mother's house more often it's a perfect opportunity for her to realize how horrible Stella is so she can understand why Stolas needed to divorce her.

I honestly think Stella does talk to Octavia a lot because Octavia often starts sounding a lot like her mother. It feels like Stella usually vents to Octvaia.

I’m still waiting to at least have one scene of she and Octavia interacting just to see what they’re actually like cause all we can assume is just the implications from comments they said in the show. Stella needs more screen time

I would like to think that, like Cercei Lannister, Stella's 1 redeeming quality is that she does care about her daughter. She got so angry when she thought Stolas was bad mouthing her to Octavia on the phone.

Stella doesn't seem to hate her daughter, but she also seemingly isn't above manipulating her to get her desired outcome. She is her daughter, which is an extension of herself, but also of Stolas, who she despises.

To me it would be actually interesting if Stella did like Octavia. “Unrelenting evil with 1 soft spot” kinda deal, like what Fizzarozzie seemed to be in Ozzie’s. Then Stella would at least have some actual depth and she can still do evil shit like abandoning Octavia and it would have actual weight instead of just existing to make it clear we are meant to feel bad for Stolas

I could see Stella caring about Octavia but because she wants to control her to be the best Goetia so she can advance her standing in the family.

She did atleast say she didn't want Stolas "turning her against her" so there's that

I hate to say it but Stella’s family is going to sue for full custody, no lying about that,

If i had to guess, Stella likely unconditionally spoils Octavia to buy her affection where Stolas puts an open, loving relationship first which includes limitations. Given the dynamic, Octavia may be inclined to choose Stella over Stolas simply to have that feeling of being spoiled rather than loved. Some children of divorce don't think they deserve love at all so she could be in that rabbit hole...

I’ve complained how the show hasn’t given us much of Octavia’s relationships, history, activities, or her perspective & reaction to different events.

I think she does care for her because when her brother mentioned that all assets would be given to octavia EVERYTHING she didn't care abt that she just cared about killing stolas I expected her to go "then kill octavia too" but she didn't so I do think there is a sort of love there but I'm not sure if it's just "she's a teen girl I don't care"

I just assumed Octavia was somewhere in the other part of the house just doing her own thing/existing.
I think Stolas also neglects his daughter, not intentionally, but I think he's so consumed in his own world that he probably doesn't even notice she's in the same house.

I would really use the "egg that fell out of her" comment against Stella since the same episode has Stolas refer to Octavia as "the only thing our families wanted from our relationship." If were saying Stella called her daughter an egg, then Stolas called her a thing.

If Stella really does treat Octavia like a possession she owns, only so she can screw over Stolas, then things are already doomed. Stolas may not have been a perfect parent either, but at least when they did things together, it was out of his genuine care for her. And Octavia knows that, deep in her heart.
