In this video I share with you my 9 Pitching Velocity Killers and how to fix each and every one of them so that you can pitch faster and start dominating hitters. Some of you may recall the video I posted last year called the 7 Pitching Velocity Killers. Well, I've added 2 more pitching velocity killers to the list AND explained how to fix them all. So this video is one of my most valuable pitching videos I've ever uploaded. If you're a pitcher, a pitching coach, a parent of a pitcher, you need to share this video with other pitchers so that we can help fix pitching deliveries across the country! That is my goal with this video. The pitching tips you'll hear in this video are:

Pitching Velocity Killer #2) 2:36 Opening Your Front Side Too Early - Some big ideas we talk about to fix this problem is leading with the side of the butt, swinging open the front door, hip speed, and the pitching drills called The Wall Drill and The Toe Tap Drill.

Pitching Velocity Killer #3) 4:14 Collapsing on the Front Leg - Some big ideas we talk about to fix this problem is shin angle, strong front leg, and the pitching drill called Up The Mound Throws.

Pitching Velocity Killer #4) 5:46 Flying Open With The Upper Body - Some big ideas we talk about to fix this problem is starting 45 degrees or more closed off and the pitching drill called The Reverse Wall Drill.

Pitching Velocity Killer #6) 10:24 Being Disconnected with Throwing Arm - Some big ideas we talk about to fix this problem is arm drag, staying connected, loading to unload, and using the Connection Ball to help fix this pitching problem.

Pitching Velocity Killer #7) 11:43 Getting Around The Baseball - Some big ideas we talk about to fix this problem is staying behind the baseball, pronation, and the pitching drill called Pivot Picks.

Pitching Velocity Killer #8) 13:48 Early Pronation - Some big ideas we talk about to fix this problem is learning the right way, being conscious of the timing of your pronation, and as a community getting this word out about this (share this video).

Pitching Velocity Killer #9) 15:43 Having Flat Shoulders - Some big ideas we talk about to fix this problem is having a tilt in our shoulders and the pitching drill called The Rocker Drill.

I played professional baseball myself and agree with *MOST* of what he's saying, but please keep the following in mind:

1. The leg drive section he talks about applies to a form of pitching style known as a "Dip and Drive". Think Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, and most power pitchers. There is another form of pitching style most pitching coaches also teach known as a "Tall and Fall". Think Steve Carlton. The best thing you can do is work with a good QUALIFIED pitching coach 1:1 as pitching mechanics have to be tailored to you PERSONALLY. You need to find out what kind of pitcher you are and you do that with a good qualified pitching coach (preferably a former minor or major leaguer), NOT EVERYONE IS A POWER PITCHER and we know that less powerful pitchers can be quite effective.

2. The drills are good.

3. You need good mechanics and in order to really learn them, I recommend that you learn them using full motion and not starting and stopping while throwing (freeze frame). Guys can get paralyzed by too much analysis. The best thing you can do is to record video of yourself and to FEEL yourself making mistakes, and feel when you're getting it right. There is no substitute for feel.

4. Every young pitcher needs to learn to throw with their LEGS! This not only increases power like he's showing you here, it prevents injury, increases longevity, and let's you throw more innings.

5. Pitchers need to throw, throw, throw, and throw as much as possible to build arm strength. Do long tosses as much as you can, throw footballs (Nolan Ryan made this famous), and pitch as much as you can. This is all more important than simply lifting weights.

I am a pitcher, and actually just came back from a game, and I pitched. I felt like I was holding back most the game, and came on YouTube to find some advice and found this video. IT WAS GREAT! I really appreciate your effort and just Subscribed to your channel.

Great video. My 9 year old, Billy, is 6’5”, 280 pounds and he throws 99 mph pretty accurately. His curve ball moves about 6 feet from right to left but I have been looking for tips to get him to throw harder. These comments are hilarious with all the parents talking up their kids about how big and strong they are. 😂 Super funny to read!

OMG, what a great video. I'm learning to pitch in my late 20s as a hobby and was wondering why I was only throwing in the 60s as a very athletic dude with a good long throwing arm.

I think I may be doing 7/9 of these things wrong. I'll try these out, but this video is excellent.

Gonna teach some of these drills to my 15 yr old nephew. He's a top 100 national prospect, throwing 89mph max right now. Turned 15 last month, but his mechanics could use some work. Thanks for this.

Watched this before, but it took on new meaning for me tonight. Trying to help my son get from 50/70 to Pony. He has great control and command, but his velocity is sub par. He leaks power all over. All my years of baseball and utilizing a local pro for pitching tips, (2x World Series Champ). The main thing that got me in this vid was all the areas of load. We think of that with hitting...I thought of that when we sit and leg drive toward home. The concept of separating our shoulders and hips, while I do it, I was not aware of it and couldn't communicate it to my son. The other was the arm angle as the ball is brought up. I have a vid of our local pro that clearly shows that move just as coach Madden demonstrates. I just never really thought about that as another "load" point. This opened my eyes to all the spots where our power can leak. Thank you coach Madden...great vid.

My son learned a lot just by watching this video. He started practicing some of the techniques in our dining room and when he tried the last one, his back cracked. He said how much better he felt and he's ready to practice on the field.

I’ve played baseball since I was 6 yrs old I’m forty now and have obviously had many coaches through the yrs. Throughout that time I remember most all of the coaches who thought me the wrong things as well as the ones who were spot on. I’m fresh out of the flinger baseball league and finally back to real pitcher catcher baseball. That means I have to teach every kid who’s going to pitch from the ground up. This pitching video is a huge help. I was taught fingers back when you break your hands and in two days from now at our first practice I was going teach my boys the same thing. This video may have saved our all star team this year. As far as I’m concerned one of the most helpful pitching videos I’ve seen so far. Thank you for taking your time to create this tool for me to become a better coach. It’s all about the kids man.

Probably the best video of yours I've seen. A+ content. I coach youth pitchers and you've hit not just velocity killers but stuff that will help guys be more accurate and keep healthy.

This video is huge for me. i have at least 4 of these issues in my delivery and i believe that is why i am leaving pitches up in the zone and walking so many guys. i will be doing all of these drills multiple times a week and will be sure to give you feed back
