America's oldest city isn't the place we studied about in elementary school: Plymouth or Jamestown. Years earlier, Saint Augustine, Florida, was founded in 1565 by the Spanish and has been continuously habituated ever since. Join a local and me to learn about this fascinating place.

She was a great tour guide. She must be a great teacher. One of your best Florida videos, in my humble opinion.

Boy did you pick a great host for this one! Caroline must be an awesome teacher. She is a walking book of knowledge! I honestly felt like I was on a field trip with the class.
Excellent video, Peter and Natalia!

The name "Spanish moss" originated from French explorers who, upon seeing the plant hanging from trees, were reminded of the long beards of Spanish conquistadors and thus called it "Barbe Espagnol" (Spanish Beard), despite the plant not being from Spain.

Nice history lesson from Carolyn. I would have loved her as my history teacher. She is sweet and knowledgeable, and has a passion for her beautiful city of St. Augustine.

I have been going to St. Augustine since I was a baby (I’m currently 28), and this is one of the most beautiful towns I’ve ever been to. The people are so kind and the atmosphere is something you’ll never experience elsewhere. Thank you for doing a video on my favorite place in the world, everyone deserves to know about this place!

My family is one of the original Minorcan families who settled here. A lot of us are slowly being priced out unfortunately, by next year I won't be able to live in my hometown anymore. It was cool being able to live somewhere where your family's history was all over town and feel that connection to them and the past. I hope the historical sites are preserved for years to come.

I’m pre-sad upon seeing that this video is ‘only’ 36 mins. That’s how much I love your videos Peter. We are spoiled with your greatness and your gifts. Thank you!

I imagine the Carolin's students must love her class. She was so engaging, full of knowledge and a pleasure to watch / listen to. I have lived in Miami 14 years and have, of course, heard of St Augustine but had no idea how historic a city it is. Fascinating! Hats off and thank you!

NE Florida native job. Carolyn was a GREAT guide as well!!!
Fun "Rumor" : The architect that designed major parts of St.Augustine ALSO designed NOLA!!! You can see the similarities in the historic district!

I'm Spanish and proud of our history. Just for those who don't speak or understand Spanish, Florida means "full of flowers" or "covered with flowers". Flor is the Spanish word for flower.

I lived and worked in St. Augustine for 10 years.
The best place I've ever lived.
I miss the vibe, the food, and the locals.
The tourists... not so much.
Great video, Peter!

Peter, As someone mentioned in the comments, There is so much more to St. Augustine. You could easily do four, one hour videos of all the stuff to see and do in St. Augustine.

Native Floridian here. Loved the last shot of the beach. I drove on that beach over 50 years ago, when I was a teenager. Lots of good memories for me in St Augustine. ❤
