In music production, you hear the acronym DAW all the time, but what does it mean? What is a DAW? What is it for and how does it work?

First of all, many many thanks for such helpful and informative video. If you can explain more about the time line of any DAW and how it is relevant to time. I noticed when I change tempo, the time line shrinks or expands which makes me can't understand how it really works. Please if you can explain more about this. Thanks in advance.
