Instead of throwing part of the starter, just flatten it like if you are making a tiny pizza, and then fry it after sprinkling spices and/or herbs on it. In a few minutes you’ll have an incredibly tasty snack 🙂

On day four when you say discard half the starter...can that "discarded" half go into another jar and fed so you essentially split it into two starters and continue each jar with rest of the process?

You recipe was my 3rd attempt at the sourdough starter. 1st turned red in a day, 2nd had too much water. But this is prefect 😍😍

Easily the best video on YT. But I'm confused about Day 7. When you say 'discard' all except two tablespoons, do you mean 'bake' all except two tablespoons? Thanks

On Day 4, Just make sure beginner bread makers know that you discard half of the starter, but you retain the rest and add it to the water and flour. It was obvious to me, but maybe not so to someone just doing this for the first time. Thank you!

Hi, I noticed you're seeking your jar but another video I watched said to leave it open so to allow oxygen in and preventing a possible explosion of the starter. Any thoughts on this?

Some people say that the container shouldn’t be airtight but yours and therefore mine is too, is this okay? Also I only have normal plain flour available but my uncle says I need strong flour...will it still work I’m currently on day 2.

I made your beginner sourdough starter. Once it is ready to use, everytime we bake with it do we have to replace the amount we took out of original with more flour and water? And when we want to bake with it do we need to do anything to it to prepare to use it or is it ready to use at any time? Thanks!

I am using half whokemeal and half all purpose, I can see the bubbles. But it is been 5 days, and the starter is not doubling its size. Should I switch to just all purpose or whole meal?

Omg I am literally going out of my mind. I have started and restarted 4 times and I’m not sure what I am doing wrong. My starter is perfect until day 3 then it turns super watery

Hi Lauren,
I followed your steps and I'm in day 4. I discarded half of the sourdough starter, and I tried the floating test by the discarded protion, and it did not float. I will contiune for a week and apply the floating test again to see if it would float. What do you think?

I'm on day 2 and my starter seems to be very active should I switch to 12 hour feedings? If so should do a regular feeding in the morning and maybe 1 Tbls each of flour and water at night?

Can I use any type of flour? And can I add flour and water directly to the old jar? In the clip, the flour and water are added to new jar every time.
