he really needed a hug from his mom.. black families be so focused on household roles and being respected that they forget to or don’t know how to show LOVE. which is why so many black children have behavioral issues because they lack love so they act out for attention which to them is the closest thing to love.

It’s crazy because minus the out the box shii that happened putting him in this situation the whole convo between him and his mom is exactly how it is in most black house holds the mom don’t apologize just talks to her child in a loving tone and gives them something to eat (that’s the apology all by it’s self) it really felt like one of those moments💯

I wish to God that story would have ended this way with the children alive.

I'm glad they made an episode about this because the story its based on did not end this well and for some reason hardly ANYONE talked about it. They were talking about Devonte when he was crying hugging that police officer but when his two crazy liberal white moms went off the deep end and drove a car off a bridge with the kids inside I noticed that got far less coverage.

I love how this episode is built we find the grandfather and mother as the "villains", but despite the harsh teachings she is not completely wrong as teaching that some white people just want a reason to ridicule and belittle black people can be harsh but unfortunately it's true in the end she shows her motherhood by calling him "baby" that was beautiful and how the episode shows how the white savior is ridiculous from the teacher at school wanting to "save" and obviously the psychotic couple who "adopted" Laquarius and the episode shows how discreet and lethal racism is

Sad part is if it wasn't for how his mom was raising him he wouldn't have survived

I hate this style of parenting.
Disguisting, weak, lazy.
Doesn't care of her kid. The kid needs its parents, it doesn't need to be beaten and hated on until it develops nothing but hate.

She only taught him how to be poor and humiliate himself. Nothing more, nothing less.

She didn't question how he got back home or what happened just "you decided to come back home"
