How to Set Specific Text Tone for a Contact on Android

In this video, I'm going to show you how to set specific text tones for a contact on Android. So open up your messaging app on your phone, and tap into a contact that you want to change the text tone for. Tap on the three dots, in the top right corner.

And then tap on details. Then tap on notifications, scroll down to the sound option and select a specific text tone from the list provided. Tap on the save button in the top right corner when done and just continue to use this same process, if you're wanting to change the text tone from other contacts on your phone. They should just have left text tones as a field in the Contacts app like they did years ago instead of removing it. A very stupid decision.

The instructions in the video are for setting a notification sound for a specific __conversation__, NOT a specific contact. If you delete the conversation, your notification setting will be undone, and then you'll receive the default notification the next time you receive a message from that contact.

My android LG does not have this feature. I am so annoyed by constant notifications about trivia; I want a different sound for messages from my contacts.

This only apply to the phones default message service.
If you have another app for texting it's not sure that you can rely on this guide..
