Being doing this business for 21 years and I certainly don't protect cold hard cash with my life. I am protecting mine and my drivers lives.

"We like to keep a low profile."

The side of the truck reads: safeguarding valueables.

Handgun or not, I hardly think any of them will risk their lives for $13 an hour. There are janitors who make more than that.

Use to work for them but I quit, it was really stressful for 10 dollars an hour and never knew when some Crack addict was going to kill you for someone else's money

I do the long haul version of this (tractor trailer) and I promise y’all we care more about our lives than the valuables we transport. It’s sketchy sometimes but it’s a job that brings you a great deal of responsibility and you learn to feel comfort with that. Stay safe 🤘🏻

I see everyone on here asking why people do this work. I guess the simple answer is, we have LOTS of veterans that drove around Strykers in Afghanistan that decided to use that training and experience for the private protection industry driving around armored cars. If you become an armored car driver/guard, that experience can get you into careers like prisoner transport for your local sheriff, or security-police for light rail systems/subways, or can even make your background look better if you go to become an air marshal, or even better, you can probably become some celebrities bodyguard. I guess the simple way to put it is. If you're trusted and experienced in protecting millions of dollars and pharmaceuticals on top of being experienced with firearms and the use of force, you'd make a perfect candidate for those other positions I mentioned.

That location they pulled out of is Plainview NY. It used to be called Vets int'l armored company.

military body armor? lol yea goodluck getting the company to pay for that. These companies are cheap and they barely pay you what you should be earning.. Vault and regular workers earn $10/hr minimum, regardless of if they have a gun permit or not. Trucking makes $13 starting.. Mind you, you are supposed to be making $20 if you're carrying a gun. It's real funny because people look at these guys and think they're making big bucks because they're handling money. That is so far from the truth.

"....that they're ready to protect it with deadly force." That's the biggest myth about armored crews. They take the risk of transporting currency & valuables. They're ready to defend their lives with deadly force not cash!

I currently work for Dunbar Armored! I love my job

I don't understand who'd want this job. You run a decent chance of getting robbed/shot, and make *slightly* more than the cashier at Dunken Doughnuts. I say keep the extra two bucks an hour, I'll put on the apron.

Just saying to everyone talking about the pay, at Dunbar it’s around like $2300 a month on average. I made less in the military.

For all of you saying "I don't know who would work this type of job".. It's great experience. We deal with Managers ALL DAY LONG. You make contacts, get experience and decide where to go from there. I plan on getting into Law Enforcement after I've had enough with this line of work.. But a lot of guys end up working at Banks or At&T making 4 - 6x more. (AT&T is unionized.. Something unheard of in Louisiana)... So yeah. It's definitely worth the risk.

Are you kidding me?...
I currently work as an Armored Car Guard and this clip is full of crap.
Armored Car Guards DO NOT protect money with guns.  The firearm is strictly used to protect ones life, or another persons life while on duty.

Second point, the idiot with his hand on his gun while walking through the streets is just that, an idiot.  Don't let this clip fool you.  I love my job, best job I've ever had, and would recommend it to anyone.
