I think the garage door industry is a little more versatile than you mention here. I know guys who don't install, they concentrate on repairs and servicing instead. For example, a common repair would be a torsion spring replacement. Depending on where you shop, let's say Amazon, you can get a torsion spring for $40 and charge $499 for the spring replacement. Now, if you do 5-10 of these a day you would have a better profit margin with more volume. And for a service call you would go out check torsion springs, check garage door cables and make sure the door is lubricated and that the opener is working properly. At a cost of $350 for the service inspection with no cost for parts. From what guys I know tell me the real profit is in garage door repair not installation. But you still gave out good advice and I like the way you stand up for the skilled trades!

5 jobs a week 😆 bruh, I do At least 9-12 a week. Commercial doors are where the bread and butter are. Today I finished a 34ft x 18ft. Everything cost me, as the business owner, $7, 200. Charged the customer $31, 500 for door, dual trolly opener, 3 inch track and 6 duplex springs. Took 2 days to fully complete. My overhead cost was just fuel to get to the job. Made $20k+ in 2 days. No shop, just a truck and trailer and I pick up my own doors and store them in storage units. Before I went on my own, 15 years Commercial installer experience for Raynor garage doors. Big name company. Get trained and move on. Hourly pay is not the way to go. If I still was hourly, I would've walked away today with only $400 for 2 days work. Instead I walked away with $20k

the garage door door business is definitely profitable but your numbers are extremely off.

Where is this $4, 000 per door average coming from? That's way high.
You can get a nice insulated garage door for $2, 200 installed and that's a steel back

$4000 for a double car garage? What world are you in? Im charging $1500 and some people even beat that. How do I market to higher end customers? im 20 years old, have my own company, super good at the trade did a bunch of custom doors already. Located in NC.

Love the advice! Question:

Almost ALL states require you to have a contractors license to do garage repairs and installs. Any tips for how to get around that without having spend even more than the $42, 500.00 you Estimate just to start? Is it more likely to cost over $60, 000.00 to start in this business?

Please explain to me

4, 000$ just for the installation? The labor ? Or that number includes the doors and the engine and your profit is 25% so it’s 1, 000$ profit ?

Thanks 🙏🏻

Don’t you need a contractors license to install garage doors

Yes. Except you need a contractor's license if you're making more than 500 dollars a day. For that you need 4 years of journeymen experience. I don't got 4 years. It seems like repairing them is the way to go.

a Basic door is 700.00 at the wholesale dealer. It takes about 2 hours to install it. I sell it for 1700.00 installed. If you sell it for 4k your a thief.

Seems like you Googled your information like you have no experience at all probably shouldn't be making a video about something you really don't understand
