It can end up a lot worse than what is shown in this demonstration. Overcharging causes flammable gasses to form, including hydrogen gas. If larger or multiple cells are contained in a confined space it can lead to buildup of these gasses and can cause an explosion due to the heat or sparks generated by the overcharging.

I feel like it's more the 55A than the vintage at play here. If you use the standard CC/CV charging protocol but with a final voltage of, say, 5V instead of 4.2, that would have been very interesting to see.

We talk a lot about the risks of Lithium Ion exploding/burning but the more familiar Lead Acid battery is not immune. The difference is that a lead acid battery "event" shoots hot sulfuric acid all over the place !

My neighbor bought a new power backup for her computer and I asked for her old one. Inside I found two of those sealed 12v batteries. They are very handy.

lipo has overly sealed cover so those oxide just stay there and make more reaction

This is not overcharging. This is too fast charging. Overcharging would be, if you charged it with a current that is below its maximum rating, to a voltage above its 4, 2V per cell.
If you apply 12V to a cell, this does not mean, that the voltage of the cell is suddenly at 12 volts, because it has a series resistance.
So this means, that a proper charging device meant to charge these Batteries, will go slightly over the rating of the battery in voltage, in order to fully charge it up. If you apply a voltage of 4, 2V to a battery, that has 4, 1V it will only very very slowly charhe up, because of inner resistance. So in order to fully charbe it up, a good battery charger will go slightly above these 4, 2V for some time, then check the voltage, while it turns off the current, and then goes on again. Or it will check its actual voltage over the balancer plug or something. But this would not be overcharging, cause the battery itselve never has more than 4, 2V across it.
And in this case it might be, thar the battery itselve never had more than 4, 2V across it. So it only blew up due to overcurrent.

LiPos can get a lot more dangerous than that.
More cells, higher capacity also means a LOT of flames that can catch everything around it on fire and generate extreme temperatures.
Some people have metal containers for charging big LiPos but without proper insulation they can still cause some damage, if you plan on transporting the container in case of a fire you will just burn yourself.
If your container is sealed, the pressure buildup can make it into a bomb.

You always need a bms. Even if just for battery longevity.

Why do batteries come in certain intervals/multiples of voltage? 1.5V or 3.7V etc.. 🤔🤔

there is reason why they use BMS with it.
