I was in my first few months of being a manual tester when the project required me using SOAP UI and I did not have someone specially assigned to teach me how to use it. I also need to mention that I am not a technical person :D. Of course I was terrified, but it was challenging and by asking my dev colleagues for help when they had time and by excessively practising it, I got the hang of it. Then we switched to Jmeter, but I still like using SOAP UI for request validation. :)

I am a QA professional with more than 5 years of experience in QA. I have been struggling to make the transition. Its quite a big fear of coding that I have. I feel like I don't have the mindset to think like a programmer. For instance its very hard for me to write code on my own from scratch and make it work in a work situation. How do I overcome this? If I have to survive in the testing world, I will have to learn automation but this inability is causing a major obstacle. Also due to the COVID, I am no longer working now. So its become more challenging even though I have the time, but the constant thoughts of not having a job is killing me. Please help. Someone please help me.

Majority of the QA's actually fears switching from manual to automation due to lack of coding knowledge ! We are always in a dilemma where to start from, shall we go n learn some coding language first or should we directly start learning any automation tool ..
So even though we want to switch, we are always stuck in above situation ! 🙁
