In this video, we explore the Potential system in Coromon and how it differentiates itself from the typical IV/EV system in a game like Pokemon or Temtem. We go what the potential value is, how unlocking potential works and the chances of finding a potent or a perfect. Let me know in the comments if you prefer the Coromon System or the Pokemon System. I personally Coromon's system more simplistic and less overall hoopla. You don't have to look for specific coromon to increase specific stats, you can just grind against anything and unlock the potential points to your liking. You also don't have to worry about convoluted phrases or IV calculators as there is an in-game item that tells you the potential value of your coromon and again there is only 1 value you have to worry about.

Coromon's system is perfect! It has great potential!

I encountered a Potent Silquil well under an hour into my first playthrough (like ten minutes ago) and thought for a moment it was a shiny equivalent - glad to know it's technically better than that! Either way, love my new blue birb <3

So I've been thinking a lot lately about the differences in these systems in different monster taming games. I know I don't care about shiny hunting or catching the same mon over and over trying to get perfect stats. One system that I don't remember exactly how it worked but enjoyed it a lot as a kid was digimon world 3's gym system, mainly because you got to do a fun little mini game to try and get your stats up.

Another system that I think has potential not from the monster taming genre is from the fire emblem series where classes or characters had max stats. I would like to see a system where when you level up you get points to spend on stats, but you cant just dump all your points in one stat forever because it will hit a cap based on what mon/evolution it is (this way devs are still able to balance the game and not worry about the person that dumped every point into attack every level and ended up being able to 1 shot anyone)

But there are infinite ways that this could be done, im not a fan of the random instance determines how good your mon can be that is currently present in most monster taming games. I want to catch mons once and then train them, not catch 1000 of them and go through weird breeding processes to get the perfect one

Coromon system is the best you don't have to grind too much especially if you want a specific stat to raise you can just manually invest and it makes leveling up easier since you don't have to battle a certain coromon to get a stat bonus

Coromon is easier to understand and easieer to obtain a perfect coromon and shiny monster.
The systems like pokemon or temtem is done with the porpouse of being more difficult to obtein a perfect pokemon and you need put effort and time and you need understand the mechanics of the game . They what you feel you achive something valuable and difficult and obviously they what you to stay more time playing.
The system of coromon is more casual is easier to undersand and a lot easier to obtain a perfect and shiny coromon.
I personally dont like stay hours grinding and breaking eggs to obtain a perfect iv pokemon or temtem and then have to train the ev too, I like the coromon system better for me but I can see a lot of hardcore players dont gonna like this.
I belive coromon is more focus in the single player and the story and not in the competitve aspect, if this is the case I think a more causal system is better for them.

Could you make a video explaning where is better to spend the points when the potential levels up? I saw people saying to invest all points in speed. Is It correct?

Based solely off Coromons different mechanics, I think it has more POTENTIAL than most monster taming games. Hopefully they keep working on it and maybe someday it'll be Perfect.

I prefer Pokémon Showdown's version of IV's and Ev's. Basically Pokémon still have the whole 0-31 IV's for every stat, and each stat can get a maximum of 252 EV's, with a total of 508 EV's split between the stats. The difference between the Pokémon and Showdown is that in Pokémon, you still have to do tedious grinding for EV's, and tedious breeding for controlling the IV's. In Showdown, you select how high or low your your IV's and EV's are, within their numerical limits, and adjust them to your leisure between battles. Showdown makes Pokémon more about strategizing your team comp and then going straight into battles, while regular Pokémon games become "farm stats" simulator.

Hold up we can call them pvs for potential values

So we decide where will put the ev after level up not by killing mons, and the ivs is replaced by potent ranging from 1-21 17-20 is potent 21 is perfect

ah finally the numbers behind finding potent and perfect. I found myself a perfect red birb near the start and thought maybe they weren't so rare but my hunts for more were failing.. Now I see why ^-^""

Welp, guess I'll have to work harder for a full perfect team to prepare for the full release.

Coromon's system is the one that finally puts the power in the players hands rather in the hands of R&G.
Allowing for that much needed freedom to build a captured Coromon that actually feels different to some one else's Coromon.
Like you want to take all your potential points and dump it into a mix of sp and speed, you can do it, you want to make that one Coromon you like into a tank type, Go for your hp and defenses.
Which in turn takes a bit of a load off when it comes to going hunting for those Potent and Perfect Coromon, because again you can make it your way only now you get a cool color pallet to see when you toss out that spinner.

And if I was going to go for more of a "traditional system." I would go with Temtem, because at least if I run into a luma I'm guaranteed three level 50 stats rather then just the blind luck of Pokemon.

Watching videos on high potential coromon to hype myself up when I eventually find a perfect. Currently hunting a perfect starter, it’s been two days n still no luck :(

So do u need to farm out a perfect coromon if you want the max stats, or does it just grow faster and the stats in the end are the same?

interlooper

So can the potential machine in make your corromon potent and perfect?

geredgreen

So a normal is the same as a potent or perfect in that at max level it's going to have the same exact attributes? So other than shiny color differences there's no difference between a normal a potent and perfect at max level?
They just grow quicker but eventually at max they all equal the same stats?
How do you know if you got a 20 potential or a 17, 18, 19 potential? 21 it would be a perfect but...

Pokemon system is much better. Iv and Ev give felling of actualy breading and training, not jus clicking +.
