As we moved toward the North Caucasus, we arrived at The Republic of Dagestan at the southernmost tip of Russia.

Dagestan used to be a stop on the ancient Silk Road, and as a result, is located along the Caspian Sea at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.

We stayed in air BandB in Derbent city, spacious room, and a private kitchen, the owner can’t speak English and all we relied on was google translate.

Derbent was known as the “Caspian Gates” in old times. The city sits right on the coast of the Caspian Sea, just 30 minutes from Azerbaijan, and allows for quick access to Dagestan’s beautiful mountains.

And then we moved toward the north; The Republic of Kalmykia; is the only Tibetan Buddhist region in Europe. That is why this place is on our list.
We arrived at Elista in the early morning, the day was very hot and almost cant got out. In the evening we visited the golden temple.

The prayer flags are tied to the bushes and walls. The fragrance of incense sticks and sang is delighting to our noses, people moving around sacred stupas and statues, spinning wheels.

Amazing trip Pal!! I have never known about Kalmikiya has population who believe in Tibetan Buddhism, the community in your video looks so similar as any of those local communities in Chinese cities. And the vibe in the monastery looks magical. Look forward to seeing more and more of your travelling videos!
