One of the greatest memories of the Carol Burnett show were the "bloopers" where they would just break down laughing at their own lines either rehearsed or adlibbed. It was a refreshing beautiful display of honest spontaneity which invited the audience right in on the humor and the fun.

Vicki Lawrence's career always fascinates me. Carol read her letter when Vicki was a teen and Carol went to see her in a play. At such a young age she was invited on one of the biggest shows on TV. She started playing Mama at age 24. Mama then because huge herself.

Thanks for posting this. When a youngster my family all looked forward to the Carol Burnett Show and we all talked about it for days later. What Carol had over everyone else was sincerity. It wore off onto her guest who let their hair down and were able to be themselves too. I still watch episodes if I am feeling a bit down. It never fails to pick me up.
