Do I Need A Pedalboard Switching System? What Does It Do?

Hi everyone, Dan here, hope you're awesome.
We released our first pedalboard switching system in April of 2004 and since then have never stopped pushing to get the most out of your pedalboard.

What Is A Loop Switcher?

A Programable Pedalboard Switching System at its heart enables you to turn some effects on and some effects off at the press of a single foot switch.

It mitigates the dreaded pedalboard 'Tap Dance' by enabling you to program combinations effects you want to use for certain sounds. Those pedal combinations are stored as presets, recalled by pressing a footswitch.

So in a practical sense a switching system can save you a bunch of time by having instant access to your pre programmed pedal combinations, but it can also help your tone.

One advantage of a good pedalboard switching system is that it bypasses the effect that isn't being used which helps keep your guitar signal intact.

All the best

Dan

I often find myself wishing each and every guitar player could just try a Quartermaster. It's no exaggeration to say your playing life will be changed. I have some cherished pedals but could easily get along without them before giving up my Quartermaster and TheGigRig power supply. These are honestly my only "can't live without" elements. And while it's hard to be amazed anymore, the support team truly are amazing. Thanks, Dan.

I’ve had my G3 a few years now. I LOVE IT. Not much of a learning curve, sounds very clean, midi works amazingly well, I run in stereo with no hum, crystal clear cleans, and no signal loss.

Gig Rigs tech support is very friendly and have helped me out more than a few times on issues I’ve had (user issues, not G3 issues).

I love it!

Yeeees! I've had mine for about a year now - best decision I've ever done for my setup.

Much love from Greenland

I bought a cheap loop switcher off ebay a few years ago and never looked back.

Its nice to switch all pedals in a single button press.

i already did all that with a mixing board (yamaha mw12) 2 decades ago. the trick is use the extra output most my pedals had in example hendrix digitech. you can adjust the level, the 3 band eq and the panoramization, making a wall of sound, way more interesting combinations than a simply chain of pedals. and actually the hi-fi is a better pedal platform rather than using guitar amp.

Love my quartermaster x8. It’s built like a tank and works great.

I've bought a Carl Martin Octaswitch mk 3 as I wanted to buy a Gig Rig G3 but they were out of stock. So for now, I'm using the Carl Martin as a temporary switch and I already love the lack of tap dancing and my tone is definitely way better going into this thing. I have recently bought a Strymon Timeline, Big Sky and Mobius and will be buying an Eventide H90 in a few months so I really can't wait till I can afford a Gig Rig G3 (and they are available again) so I can use it for midi programming as well as switching the audio signals. Its all very exciting! :)

I don't know if I NEED it but I certainly do "need" it.

Show the difference it makes in tone! Love the products and believe the difference, but think it makes a really strong argument to show that difference!

My issue is treble booster and germanium fuzzes. Can i put them in a switcher or not?

I’m a proud Gigrig QM6 user. I use it for some simple flip flopping but ultimately it’s there to preserve my signal chain. Wouldn’t use anything else.

Hi Dan! What a cleverly made machine!! I have a question, do it allows you to put parallel effects, for having parallel reverb or delay in a mono signal? I think it's the only thing i love of my current ES-8 hahaha. I'm wishing to earn enought money to buy one of your G3s!! By the way, it would be so freaking good to have an european dealer to avoid taxes of importing from UK! Wish the best for you, guys!

If I have a Stereo Pedal (TRS Cable) in Loop 8, for example, can I still use the 're-order' function to move it before a Mono Pedal in Loop 4, for example? Would the GigRig just sum the stereo signal to mono before placing it before Loop 4?

Can I use a g3 or similar with the rock board module 1 running distortions in front and the rest through my effects loop on the amp through the rock board module then can I then connect a switcher to this and how cheers

I am looking to buy one. Can you please tell me if i have a pedal that has presets saved in it and it can receive midi messages, can I also make presets with a switcher so that when I change the switcher preset it changes preset inside a pedal over midi? Can you combine turning of and
On analog pedal with changing the preset over midi for example on a zoom multieffect pedal and also turning it on or with a single click on a guitar switcher?
I hope you understan what I ask?
Thx

Hey Dan question: I do not play in a "preset/set list" format but I would still like a loop switcher to save "the tap dance". Is there switchers that just turns on/off individual pedals without having to bank them together?

with the g2 can i send my overdrives in the front of the amp and my modulation, delays etc using mono send and stereo return?

Basically, you turned your analog pedals work like a multi-effects pedalboard with the loop switcher pedal.
