Nose Examination OSCE and Nasal Cavity Inspection - Clinical Skills - Dr Gill

One of the commonest presentations requiring a nose examination is a patient reporting epistaxis or a nose bleed.

The examination of the nose should first review the external nose, looking for evidence of deviation. The nose exam then requires the use of a speculum or other instrument to assess the nasal cavity to review; the anterior nasal septum, mucosal membranes, and any sign of damage to Little's Area.

It is important in the case of trauma, that a septal haematoma is ruled out.

Assessment of the nose should also include a review of the turbinates, and any possible polyps, although only the largest of these would normally be visible here

I could never be Abby because I would just end up falling asleep. The way he talks is so relaxing

Just wanted to say I do these videos because they are actual entertainment to film, I get to have a laugh and review things I haven’t touched in three years. It also gives me a chance to have a chat with someone who survived Warwick and knows exactly where I am coming from when I need help. I find the comments section ridiculously funny which helps too 😅

Fun Fact - on my first birthday at Med school (which you should all know when it is by now ;) ) I had a clinical skills session with Dr Gill who congratulated the earth on making another lap around the sun 😅

I don"t have a medical background, but still enjoy your videos as they are very informative and everything seems to make sense to some degree even without excessive medical knowledge. This time a question came up for me though: How does the movement of the eyes link to problems in the nose?

That thumbnail is giving me serious League of Gentlemen vibes. "This is a local nose examination for local people. We'll have no trouble here."

I really noticed the editing in this one more than usual (in a good way). I don't normally notice the technical stuff, but the shifts/cuts are particularly well done!

I know why you introduce yourself at the start, but I can't help but think "she knows who you are sir"

And the award for flattering thumbnail goes to: Dr Gill. Abby, you're a legend.

I wonder if Abby watches these and falls asleep to herself getting a Dr Gill examination

Great job with everything Dr. Gill. I've been a fan ever since the "candid ASMR" videos from five or so years ago. It's been wonderful to see you create this channel and grow it to where it is now. You're doing a tremendous amount of good for many many people out there. Thanks for all you do, and thanks for being you!

Medical students: another excellent informative video.

Me, a Dr. Gill fan: wait no signs of bleeding, are you calling Abby a liar? HOW DARE YOU SIR?!

Name a more iconic duo than Abby and Dr. Gill.

Protip: You can’t.

I like to believe that Dr Gill plays that intro and outro song on guitar before and after his examinations. Just to make his patients feel at ease.

Dr.Gill, you must be the ultimate remedy for any patient that has anxiety about exams. You're so calming, I'd be out like a light, hopefully you wouldn't think I had narcolepsy. LOL

These videos are great for getting to sleep a lot quicker, as Dr Gills voice is very soothing.
He would certainly instill confidence in anyone that he had as a patient.

Dr. Gill sir. If you make longer videos for ASMR purposes, they would have hundreds of thousands of views. Like a total medical exam. Cut it into small parts for educational purposes, and the long one for the ASMR people, like me. With your soothing voice, they'll be super successful. Just a thought.

Home alone remake, but it's you and Abby who are the burglars.

After Abby gets hit by a paint can, "any double vision?"
