Since these oils are rare and expensive in our area, I tend to use Gliricidia leaves. It just grow everywhere but you can also use jicama leaves. Crush the leaves and mix with water, leave overnight, 1 pound of leaves per 20 litres of water. May add equal parts of oils and dishwasher soap to make the solution stick to the leaves easier especially in rainy days. For meallybugs, ferment boiled rice (10 parts water 1 part rice) to weaken the wax coating for deeper penetration, killine the pest, ferment for 10 days.

I will always be a loyal follower of yours and know you have a friend in VA!!!

Kim, That little close cluster of yellow eggs are lady beetle eggs. You should keep them. They will hatch in 10 days or so. Then they will be nymphs (looking like little alligators) they eat a lot of aphids. Eventually they will turn into Lady beetles. Google the life cycle of lady beetles. It's very interesting. I watch for the eggs all the time. The nymphs eat more aphids that the actual beetle from my observation.🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞

I had aphids on my carrot greens...they were harvested so that’s over 🙄😄 but I just planted a second crop...so this information will be helpful for future crops! I always get them on my kale 🙈😜 Melissa from Simple Living told me that they will leave when cold weather comes on. 👍 She just cuts it back & doesn’t harvest during late summer when they are the worst. Although they showed up early this year 🤷‍♀️ (northern California) ughhh! My rainbow chard doesn’t get them, and is beautiful! 😉 So for my Calda Verde soup, I just use the chard instead of kale in the soup. (Portuguese for green soup, sooo good, turkey smoked sausage, potatoes, & usual veggies in soup.)

I bought the same hand sprayer a couple of years ago and absolutely love it; the mist setting is perfect for keeping potting soil moist.

Gallan of sea water with 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper and 2 tsb distilled vinegar. Its good for cabbage radishes and turnip and rutabaga.
Spray every 2 weeks depending on if you get alot of rain spray in 1 week.

I spray in the evening after bees have stopped working. First I at the ground well. Then spray leaves and ground. That way, the spray is likely still damp in the early morning as bugs emerge from the soil to attack!

Beginning this Springtime the pests/problems I had were:
1st: aphids
2nd: inky cap mushrooms
3rd: cabbage hoppers
4th: spider mites
Hoping it isn’t too late to treat the garden! 🙏🏼☀️🌱

Thank u so much for this advice and information. Definitely going to be using this in my vegetable garden this year. Even for my flower garden actually minus the peppermint and the rosemary.

Loved the spray bottle you used for this. It beats using the other ones when so many plants are involved. Thanks for including the link. Just ordered two.

Hi CaliKim, right after this video I went out and got me the oils to use in my garden! I just mixed them up and now I’m ready for battle 😉

I just noticed my eggplant leaves are now holey! Using the mix tomorrow. Have been using it on my cantaloupe plant, as I was gone for a couple of days and someone else was watering for me, and I think I ended up with aphids—or at least I think they were but they were all black but grouped up like aphids. (What are they really?) But the spray has been working well. I’m now onto maintenance every couple of weeks! Woo hoo!

a hand sprayer works wonders when spraying off the aphids. If you adjust the stream just right on a bottle, you can find the perfect spray pattern to keep the over-spray down, and your surrounding leaves dry. I really dislike introducing oils and sprays to the garden if I can avoid it. Of course this gardening tactic would be absolutely unreasonable for me if I had to grow anything on a large scale. your garden rocks, and so do your vids.

That's a great idea to spray the soil! I never thought of that. I just encountered the biggest caterpillar I've ever seen today. It was at least 4 inches long and chewing on my poor tomato plant leaves like it was a smorgasbord! I'm slightly embarrassed to say that my tip for getting rid of it, was to call my husband 🤦🏽‍♀️. In my defense, the caterpillar gave up a big fight and spit or excreted some yucky green stuff all over my husband's glove 🤢.

I am glad I found your video. I live in the South and for the first time in all the years, I have been gardening. This year was awful, my cabbage, collard greens are getting eaten and are looking really bad.
