Saw her not long after the release of Pearl ... not a huge audience which made it quite intimate. Best part of the concert, for me at least, was when the lead guitar player's string broke (Sam Houston, I think), and he went off stage to replace it (they didn't have a rack of additional guitars back then) ... while waiting, the rest of the band, including Joplin doing some hand clapping, started an impromptu jam which continued when the "lead" returned. Just one of those unscripted moments that almost never occur in these tightly choreographed times.
