How Senior Developers ACTUALLY Write Code!

Показать описание
Writing clean code, though, is much harder. In this video I take a look at two different code examples from a beginner, intermediate, and advanced level.

The goal of this is to show you how a senior developer will think while programming and how they will structure their code to be as clean and well-written as possible.

00:00 - Introduction
00:30 - 1) No show off
01:09 - 2) Understanding buisness priorities
02:08 - 3) Job/Compensation anxiety
02:52 - 4) Giving feedback and being incredibly calm
03:36 - 5) Being extremely calm during an outage
04:11 - 6) Code everyday
05:16 - Bye Bye

Humility is the key. Not looking down on others is the most important quality a person should have. At the end of the day we all are trying to live this life as good as possible and working hard to achieve that.

That's not how a senior engineer behaves, it's how a matured person behaves. It has nothing to do with software engineering. Matured people who have developed high EQ behaves the same way irrespective of their field.

Very important points you mention here. The part about not going for the fancy technology especially resonated with me as I was myself doing the same trying to learn too many things and not focusing on what is necessary. So thank you. Being a cohort student I am doing things at my pace, albeit too slowly, but slowly my motivation has picked up and now I am only focusing on what is necessary for me at this point rather than going all over on all the technologies. My advice - If you want that first job, do React. Later on you will learn everything!

Great video with great points.
This video was supposed to be made on the basis of community post polls .
I highly urge the blind supporters to not think of this video as the reply to any sort of the "code review" controversy which is actually not a controversy, but rather a more collaborative way of learning

very true, i was going over some reddit post and i saw 2 example there; one guy was being very agruementative about learning tech and knowing bit more than the poster, the 2nd guy was being vey humble and was sharing things like someone noob would also get things.

100% Agreed Senior engineers are so freaking Calm, if the they have time on their hands theyll always be ready to help you out without aggressiveness or imposing attitude or this is the right way.
I was surprised when my 10+ year experience lead, he had all his ears for me a 1-2 year exp when I was trying to show how that can be done better, or there are any time saving tricks.
and I was a total idiot, "No No this can be done this way" -> a total idiot. But they remained clam af. Then I learnt this and now im clamer.xd

during my 1 sem me and my besti used to fight over c++ better than java( which i still believe 😁). As the time passed, we agreed programming in general is bs and suddenly no conflict every happened. Happy ending
