I've always knew about Herobrine, but I didn't know about White Eyes until recently, when the Minecraft Wiki (which had just moved off of Fandom) brought it up and mentioned it as a predecessor to Herobrine. All these years and I just assumed the Creepypasta that first mentioned Herobrine by name was where it all started, and that there wasn't any predecessor to it before then.

Oh and also yall know Void Eyes? That goofy ahh monster that comes to punish you if you decide troll your friend dressed up as "Him"? Thats probably what people turned the original myth into its different partner

the thing i like about this myth is that its just two white pixels and as a result something really easy to accidently think you've seen yourself. i could imagine being a kid and catching something glowing in the corner of my eye and being freaked out

I'm pretty sure that they actually weren't designed with slenderman in mind, but everyone called it slenderman when notch asked for a name.

Once on the Xbox 360 edition I heard the cave ambience for the first time (on Xbox SPECIFICALLY because I had never used it before) my screen flashed two big white squares in the approximate locations of Minecraft character eyes and I took 2 hearts of damage then got attacked by a hoard of zombies and died. RIP that one piece of iron I got.

You know, White Eyes kind of reminds me of Null. My god, I was horrified by Null back in the day. I was so horrified of Null that one time, I literally had a Nightmare about Null coming into the real world to kill me. Ah, good times.
