I love tech stuff and I love design ❤️ Is that reason enough to put my phone in a case? No! On the contrary. Hear me out...

I stopped using a case for a while but after my brother dropped his phone which left it unusable, I immediately went back to the case

I understand and see your perspective on wanting to preserve the original design of the phone. For me I always view my phone as a resource and not an accessory to look at so I always like to put a case on it. For it it allows the device to be more personalized since iPhones are very common and a good case adds more durability to the phone which is important to me because not only is the phone fragile since it Made of glass but also expensive to repair the glass also. Anyway that my perspective always enjoy seeing and sharing what our different perspective is on this topic about cases.

A few thoughts after researching going this route. Breaking phones is a business - it’s beneficial to charge you for Apple care, screen repairs etc. and folks who buy these can easily afford repairs and insurance, it’s easy money for Apple they don’t have to design these things to be durable if they got you on the design train - ingenious actually. You don’t take your leather sofa or nice guitar camping, running, or to work where you use it as a functional tool nowadays.

thing is, cases do a great job protecting your phone but even in a case it can still break.. but you're less likely to break your phone while dropping with a case then without one. The couch example doesn't really make sence cuz your phone is used as a communication device that you take everwhere and is at high risk of damage, a better example would be a car.. .

I respectfully disagree with your opinion.

I have a s23 ultra, i absolutely love the design and the look of it but its so slippery unfortunately. So i do need a case with a very good grip. I still take it out sometimes though

Not only do I totally agree, but you are totally right! There should be a type of protection for the phones, but it shouldn't conceal the design of the phone. I don't agree with the "looking used" part.

I don't use screen protector since samsung galaxy note2 because I wanna fully experience! Phone last like at least 4and half year! The only reason it broke because Galaxy note2 battery got fat.. which push phone screen outside! You know samsung popular with battery explode!

I haven't used cases since 5 yrs, but I am very careful with my mobile and even keep it gently on table and have never dropped my mobile

I don't either. Iphone 13 was abused, dropped from 4 feet onto every surface 15 times. These things are tough these days. It's not an S8 that breaks when you give it a mean look...

I’ve never used a case. Going all the way back to the iPhone 4 . Back then I honestly didn’t know cases existed. So I just got used to not having one

I tried no case on my new iPhone 14 but it was too slippery. With my case it feels much better and I have 1 of the better cases that shows the beauty of the back of phone.

For Apple users, the trade in value is what offsets the high cost when they buy their next Apple device. Hence, going caseless is a nonstarter. It might make sense for older phones, particularly Android, because they tend not to be supported as long as Apple phones

Phones are designed to be used, without a case. You just have to take care of your device, and practice situational awareness.

I use a case, but I also go caseless for weeks at a time, so i can enjoy the looks, materials and design language.

I just started this no case thing today. I’ve always appreciated the beauty of the iPhones only to slap a case on them right away. I dropped my new SE in the toilet earlier (yes it works fine - I just vacuumed the openings for a few minutes) and decided to go the day without the case while I soak it in some bleach water…even the silicone cases get scuzzy looking after a while and I hate it. But I’ve been having so much fun using my phone naked, so I looked up if there were any other crazy people out there. I love looking at my phone for the first time since I unboxed it, and it feels great in my hand and the screen feels more responsive without the protector. And I’ve seen through many videos how durable the new iPhones are. I can definitely vouch for the water resistance! The last great(in my eyes) phone I had was a Motorola G7 Power back in 2010. That fell in the toilet and did not make it out alive so naturally I had a mini stroke as I cleaned and dried my SE. Anyway, great content as always. You’ve inspired me to keep the natural look for now 🤩👊

I’m a designer, appreciate the design but functionality should be part of the design process for a functional object. I started using a case when they started making them out of glass. It’s not comfortable to hold and it slips out the hand. I wouldn’t care about the superficial damage you mention but when your screen breaks and it costs a hundreds to repair, it’s a bit silly.

My favourite iPhones were the first gen, second gen, and iPhone 5c. I’d love to see a more rugged iPhone. I’m not one polished steel and glass.

Caseless 15 Pro Max user here. AppleCare + is my case. AppleCare Comes with the Apple Upgrade program. $29 for glass repair or $99 for overnight express replacement. That’s about the cost of what most people spend on a single case and some buy multiple cases. Cases get nasty and turn yellow etc. Not only that, but one thing that most people don’t realize is the majority of iPhones that come into the Apple Store for glass repair were broken while in a case. If it’s gonna break it’s gonna break. Get AppleCare + and enjoy your phone as it was designed. I didn’t buy a $1, 400 phone to wrap it in plastic or rubber 😂

Genau.
Only exception: when i know i will be in an environment/prolonged situation, where falls or damage are 99, 9% likely (hiking, long travels, shooting range/competition) and the priority swaps 100% on function & reliability - then it's "case time", to save me from worst case, which is grief, loss of function & repair time (which is - for me - of higher value than money).
