In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through creating a simple Java "Hello World" application using RTI Connext 7. We’ll start by using the Shape IDL file, the same type used in the RTI Shapes Demo, and generate example code for both a publisher and a subscriber.

In this video, you'll learn how to:

- Use the RTI Code Generator to create type files, make files, and example code
- Set up and run the generated code in Eclipse for Java on Windows
- Transition to Linux, set environment variables, and use the RTI Code Generator in the console
- Run your Java publisher and subscriber on both Windows and Linux

By the end of the video, you’ll have a working Java application that sends and receives shape type samples between a publisher and subscriber.
