In some parts of South India, Cream color can be wedding saree color, but not white. In Karnataka (India), Bangalore wedding would have cream. South Cañará wedding can have any color but white or black. Preferably green or red. Green and red is color of being married. For example, when someone is widowed, they wouldn’t use red or green but can use other color. Again, all of these are not universal as it varies by region.
However, not wearing white to wedding is true. For North Indians, white is mourning color. South Indians don’t have a color, just not bright colors. But wearing white to funeral would mean the same.
Edit: I did mean Hindu Indian because Christian Indians do follow mostly Western Tradition with an Indian twist and white would be ok for them. I also am not talking about the multiple other religious practices that could happen in India. Sorry for the confusion!

In some regions of India, bride can wear white dress. I am from Assam, north-east India. Our Assamese traditional wedding dress is in white silk both for bride and groom❤

I think she would have gotten a much better deal if she would have gone to an Indian Boutique where they customise bridal outfits as they already have huge variety of brighter colours and her dress would also have got an Indian touch to it.

I think if she made a trip to India and bought an Indian dress she wouldn’t spend not even the half of that price.

"...in the perfect shade of pink."
Dude, that's still white.

That price is absolutely absurd. More power to you and your family if you’re able to afford it. 😮

I love garnet red or even darker like burgundy. That dress would be breathtaking in a deep red! Burgundy looks so good with gray / silver. The blush shade will be lovely too.

My entire wedding came to about $15, 000. My dress was gorgeous at $400 and I thought that was a lot. Damn I'm cheap 😂

That blush was perfect! Made it look like an antique dress, but in the best way.

$11, 000 just for a dress!?!?!?!? If my entire wedding comes close to $11, 000 I'll consider it a fail. Absolutely not!

Same in Korea! Today, it's become westernized but my mother always freaks out about white flowers etc.

My dress cost $50. I made it. It was white velvet and lace. That was 52 years ago and we are still together.
