How to Hang IKEA Kitchen Cabinets on the Wall + 3 Tips and Tricks for Uneven Walls (METOD SEKTION)

If the wall is crooked and has a hump here and there, it's not so easy to fit kitchen cabinets or cupboards flush. I live in an old building with rustic clay plaster, so I have the best conditions for the worst conditions. However, since I'm not that into modern art, I use a "trick" or two to install the Ikea Suspension Rail and hang the cabinets flush on the wall.

Depending on the coutry you live in this product line of IKEA kitchen cabinets are called either Metod, Method or Sektion.

Plastic Glazing Blocks - 600 pieces, 6 sizes.

Hex Head Lag Bolts / Wood Screws, 6x50, industrial quality from Dresselhaus.

Fischer expansion dowel S8, size 8 mm x 40 mm

Makita Combo Kit: cordless screwdriver + impact wrench + 2x batteries + charger in Makpac

PROXXON Socket spanner set, 1/4"

the way you put the washers upside down creates the risk of them sliding down the screw when there's weight on the rail and coming off the screw through the larger hole

I am hanging one rail with two 36 inch cabinets next to each other about 15 inches down from the ceiling, do I have to concern myself with shimming any gaps? I am thinking not, since it is one rail that the two cabinets will be hanging from. However, I don’t want to be surprised hand have to do it all over. The space I am working in is 74 inches wide.

Very helpful, thank you. Just to double check - those screw sizes are correct? The hexhead bolts specifically. 6x50 seems a little small to me (I'm no expert). Would 8x60 be a better idea for a concrete wall?

Rather than chip wall you can place spacers along the bracket to account for the bottom being out of plumb.
