Minecraft Server Tutorial - How to give access to more memory + FIX

Hey all, this tutorial will show you haw to give more memory to your Minecraft server to stop it from crashing, lagging and in some cases, in order to make it play.

If you have the error code below, this should solve your problem:

Connection Lost

Instructions:

1. Open Terminal, then type "ls"
2. Put all you server files on your desktop
3. Then go back into terminal and type in "cd desktop"
4. Then type "ls" again
6. You may get a error, but it's fine, just ignore it

@spiering989 If you are on a mac, use cmd+space, then type in terminal, it is under applications. If you are on Windows, it is not called Terminal, it is called the Command Prompt, to get it up, use the Windows key+R, and type in "cmd". Hope this helps!

@00halomonster Yeah the reason why you can create a new world but not use your old one is because you have run out of memory, all the building you have done on your main world takes up memory. This tutorial will help to fix that, but i am not sure if it works on a Bukkit server, as this was a tutorial on the original Minecraft server not a moded one.

@00halomonster A way you can maybe fix it is by taking your world file from your server and download the original server from the Minecraft website put it on the desktop, put the world file from your server on your desktop, double click the new server file which you have downloaded, it's file contents should unpack on the desktop, and then follow the video. hey i tried everything u did and it didnt work i still get the errors can u pls help i am on my mac and have the bukkit server and i use the bukkit vesion of that java-something-jar but i can create a new world but we build alot on this world and dont want to delete it any suggestions?

i found out the problem and fixed it but now i have a new problem it loads fine and me and my friend played on it for a while but then i got the error again and i fixed it but when my friend joins i get the out of memory error again only when he joins the server. any way i can fix this?

well my server works fine but it gets really laggy after like 5 hours of running do you know how to fix that edit i mean it show something like this cant keep up hast system time changed! has the server overloaded?
