Scoliosis is a progressive condition where the spine is misaligned, affecting its structure and proper functioning. It is not a curable condition, but the appropriate treatment can slow down the progression and allow the patient to live a less limited life.

In children and adolescents, scoliosis is rapidly worsening because of the child's growth. In adults, the progression is determined by gravity through a slower process.

Physicians look at the Cobb Angle in the scoliosis curve to determine its severity. The four main categories of scoliosis are:

Mild (less than 25 degrees)
Moderate (Between 25 and 45 degrees)
Severe (Over 45 degrees)
Very Severe (Over 80 degrees)

Idiopathic scoliosis is a type of scoliosis where the cause is unknown. Children with scoliosis add up to 90% of idiopathic scoliosis cases.

The proper scoliosis treatment plan can still be useful even if the cause of the condition is unknown. In many cases, years can pass since the patient is first diagnosed, and the cause of their curve becomes irrelevant to the treatment approach.

The traditional approach to treating scoliosis fails at addressing the curve right after diagnosis. The patient is often advised to watch and wait until the curve is bad enough to justify invasive surgery. This operation consists of a spinal fusion where it is realigned, and the curved vertebrae are fused together.

Taking a proactive approach to scoliosis can be beneficial in reducing its severity. Current technologies and research have moved away from the traditional method; this has allowed our patients to receive the proper care that they need.

At Scoliosis Reduction Center, our patients are carefully evaluated to develop a personalized program to address the spine's structure. These programs include but are not limited to in-office therapy, scoliosis chiropractic care, corrective bracing, and rehabilitation.

Thank you this helps a lot I got diagnosed with mild scoliosis in late 2019 and did nothing to help with it so far but at least I somehow managed to ignore the pain from it even when the pain gets bad I somehow managed to get over the pain without any pain killers

I'm curious about the outcome of treatment for the 155° case. I haven't been able to find any information about anything over 115°.

I got diagnosed with ~30° left side lumbar scoliosis a month ago and now I'm wearing a WCR brace, I'm a 17 year old male if that matters. Is this type of bracing good for reducing the curve? I was told I'll have to change the brace every few months

I’m 26, male, my curve is about 21°. I last got checked last year when I was 25. Before that, I was 12. I don’t think the curve has progressed much at all since then. Nothing has been done since then because my parents couldn’t afford any treatment. I work out regularly as a way to treat it, but I’m not sure what I can do right now to mitigate the curve getting worse and avoiding surgery later in life. I May see a chiropractor, but that’s all I know. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have two rods in my back because of scoliosis. Is it possible for my scoliosis to get worse? I got them when I was nine and now I am 32.
