I'm 80 years old now and have seen many rock bands come and go, but my all-time favorite, by a mile, is the fabulous Dire Straits. Keep on Rocking Dudes

One reason Dire Straits stood out from many bands of their era was their approach to music; they played for each other's enjoyment rather than solely for fame or fortune.

Here, there are no headbangers to distract you from the sometimes subpar music. You're listening to pure rock and roll performed by great musicians at their very best.

This band have been in my life since I was 16. Now 60 and they still make my hair's stand on end. Love them. Telegraph road is for me a journey of life. Thank you. 🎉🎉🎉

Matk Knopfler is at heart a storyteller. Telegraph is a major north-south 70-mile (110 km) thoroughfare in Michigan, and Mark Knopfler was inspired to write the song while riding in the front of the tour bus, which made the journey down Telegraph Road. At the same time, Knopfler was reading the novel Growth of the Soil by the Nobel Prize-winning Norwegian author Knut Hamsun and he was inspired to put the two together and write a song about the beginning of the development along Telegraph Road and the changes over the ensuing decades.

Hey fellow Belgian. I grew up with this band. In my opinion they have to be one of the tightest bands ever. Everything works so well together. Just a bunch of incredible musicians.

Hi. Love your reaction. Mark Knopfler lead guitarist wrote this song on a bus while touring in U.S. It was going along Telegraph Road and said it seemed to go on forever. If you liked this I guarantee you'll like the song Brothers In Arms from Dire Straits Live "On The Night" 1992.Mark's playing a Pensa Suhr guitar and it is jawdropping and every reactor I've seen literally cried at the end. It was about the Falklands War in early '80s. Anyway love your channel. Cheers, all the best from Australia 👍🎸🎸🎸

Now that’s what you call a phenomenal performance. Now you have to do Tunnel of Love Alchemy Live. It’s has 5 minutes of the most beautiful guitar outro ever!

I was there in 1983 and they played like that the whole gig!
This was the encore.
We didn't think they'd play Telegraph Road at all, its too long as an encore the song is too complicated, it won't work.
How wrong were we?
Alan Clark's piano/keys was sublime, everyone was on top of their game, how Terry Williams played drums like that for two hours, I just don't know.
They were having an absolute ball!
We stood open mouthed, it was amazing to see

I'm so grateful that I grew up with this music! Not only is Mark a guitar virtuoso and finger-plucking genius, but he was also a gifted story-teller /song-writer and composer for the band, and he also always made sure to give all of the band members a chance to shine. This performance is the perfect showcase for this masterpiece, and for their astounding collective musicianship! Fun Fact: In addition to all of that, Mark was actually left handed but was playing guitar with his right, whilst making it all look so easy! Another very different but wonderful example of Mark's talent is also on display in "Once Upon a Time in the West, " also from 'Alchemy Live'. And you have to check out "Brothers in Arms"; maybe watch the video as an appetizer (for the lyrics and meaning of the track) and then dive into a live performance from 'On The Night', or from Nelson Mandela's birthday at Wembley (my personal favourite because of the passion and emotion of that performance). Enjoy!

Hi there
.I.have loved this band forever and saw one of their concerts way back..during their.' Alchemy" tour. It is pure sound..5 true Musicians with bags of talent..No tricks, no sound enhancers. etc..just briiliance
Mark is one of the finest guitar players in the world..I thjnk he's the best..and he writes the songs..so many years later he remains very modest about what impact the band had. I am so glad you enjoyed the performance.I still.play their music of those days ..great memories. Your reaction was so good happy you enjoyed it....

I somehow missed this song as well and I graduated in the 60's. They're good!
When you drive in Detroit, be prepared to either drive fast on the multi lane roads like Telegraph road or watch the pack in back of you swarm towards you, divide to go around you.

Essa banda durou relativamente pouco tempo, mas deixou obras que deveriam ser eternizadas. Eles foram e são os melhores
