After 2 years of breeding mountain horned dragons, I can confirm that biting is not even in their vocabulary. I occasionally have males that will dulap up and head bob at me(they think they're tough) but I still just reach in and scoop them up and they just put the dulap away and calm down haha.

Happy to see rubber boas made the list because they're freakin awesome, and totally agree they're highly underrated! I own 2.2 CB rubber boas that I'm hoping will breed this coming spring after brumation.

Two years ago when I was looking for elk sheds in Northern Idaho I found a huge SOLID black (I'm talking black like a Mexican black kingsnake) female that was at least 200+ grams. It took everything I had not to take it home with me 😅

Gotta say that you and Dayyan have really influenced what reptiles I plan to get lol. Adding Schneider skinks to the list now

You should add a water area to the jungle so the frogs can breed. You could breed frogs, anoles, and snakes in you jungle

I have to admit this was a pretty good list! When I saw the title I did do an eye roll about the clickbait... But I think this is a pretty darn accurate description of all of these animals! You proved me wrong yet again! 😂

I have caught over 200 adult rubber boas in the wild along with approximately 140 sub adult. All released of course. That being said, NEVER has a Rubber Boa tried to bite me or strike. They are such unique, gentle and placid creatures. An absolute joy to discover under a piece of fallen redwood bark. Usually tgere is an adorable Ensatina sharing the same bark as a Rubber Boa….

In my almost 75 years of "herping" I have Never been bitten by a king snake, OR a hog nosed for that matter; and I'm talking about wild ones, which I have come across routinely in the areas I've lived.

I'd say a defensive bite from a plains hognose is almost impossible, since their defensive repertoire is built on bluffing (they even strike at predators with their mouth closed). The only thing you'd have to worry about is them mistaking you for food.

got a plated lizards (gerrhosaurus major) she is 23, so an old lady :)
and only time i have been bitten, where at feeding while she accidently got my finger.
when they are angry they will hit you with their tail, so not very likely to bite, but might get you when feeding or mistaking your wiggling fingers as food.

Blind snakes (those hitchhikers in potted plants ...) - never see them, never get bitten.

I appreciate this! I never knew about rubber boas, now I want a few of them. I have a ball python and we're already thick as thieves, and he doesn't bite, he will just puff himself up and hiss, like a little cobra! He doesn't open his mouth unless he is yawning, drinking water, taking a dump or eating a mouse.

I'm surprised to see the Bearded Dragons absent from this list. I once owned a beardie, and the only time he bit me was by accident. He went through a stint in which he wasn't eating, and the vet told us to force feed him with a syringe. I attempted to pry his mouth open, and I almost got it opened, and when he went to shut it back up, my finger just so happened to be at the wrong spot at the wrong time. He nipped me. It was surprisingly painful. I couldn't believe the bite force he possessed. But he never intentionally bit any of us and he was easy to handle.
