Exclusive Interview | Liv Fergusson joins Celtic FC Women

Celtic FC Women have bolstered their squad for the start of the new SWPL campaign with the signing of attacker Liv Fergusson on a two-year contract.

The 27-year-old arrives with experience in the Women’s Super League in England, having had spells at Aston Villa, Bristol City, Yeovil Town, Sheffield United, and most recently at Leicester City.

A former England youth international, she joins the Ghirls just in time for the new season, which kicks off at home to Hibernian on Sunday.

Fran Alonso’s side will be hoping to improve on their third-place finish in the league while also trying to match their cup success, winning both the League Cup and Scottish Cup in a historic season last year.

Having watched from afar, Fergusson is now excited to be part of this group of players and can’t wait to try and create more history with Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to the club after signing, she said: “I’m really pleased to have signed and I’m just happy to be here and get going now.

“Celtic is a massive club and an exciting place to be with the league getting stronger every year.

'The success here helped a lot in my decision. Seeing the team win trophies and qualify for the Champions League is something that excites me and hopefully, we can build on what the club has done.'

“If you look at the women’s game, it’s progressed so much in the last 10 years and the future is so exciting.

“I feel lucky to be part of it now and I want to come here and score goals, be a threat, and help the team win trophies and qualify for the Champions League again.”
