I was about to leave for a range session when I came across this video, which in my personal opinion is one of your top 3 (it helped me understand concepts and something clicked in my head)... and here is why:
I consider myself a good amateur golfer (5.1 handicap), but I’m not a good ball striker (distance of course is an issue), it is just that I know how I miss and am consistent, and I spend 1/3 of my practice time putting and another 1/3 50 yards in which is where I find myself saving my scores!
Having digested this video, I went for a trackman iron session that lasted 2.5 hours and 200 balls, coincidence?, I drove insanely down my smash factor, increased the ball speed while maintaining my swing speed, hit consistently the entire session and all through the bag gaining 8+ yards with most of my irons, and the ball flight was absolutely amazing 100% controlling a lower than usual piercing draw!
THE KEY FOR ME WAS THE COMBINATION OF THE RIGHT FOREARM AND THE LEFT WRIST, all in one shot, I needed to understand, visualize and realize that!
THANKS, sometimes is not about analyzing lines of your swing in a computer, but sensations and flow... thanks a lot, great work!

Great teachers are those who not only possess the knowledge like their peers, but can deliver that knowledge in a simplistic but highly effective way. Chris Ryan is up there with the best of those.

I'm around a 5 HC, and this is the feeling I get when I'm striking my irons pure... I consciously come into the ball with a flat left wrist. I'll concentrate on keeping my hands close to my body, and feel like I'm putting the butt of the club into my left pocket through impact. Gives me a feeling of a low left exit. This may feel like you are cutting across the ball(for some people). In reality... As the handle leads the way to the left, the club head is swinging OUT to the ball. As long as you didn't come over the top in transition, the handle exiting low left will require that your hips open up at impact. It's gonna feel like you are hitting a low fade, but the ball will jump off the club face dead straight, and the "hit" will feel slightly delayed from what you're probably used to. Good luck!

Hey Chris, I'm going back and watching some previous videos that I may have missed and I noticed something in your swing. I've noticed you have a slight laying off, rerouting of the club at the top. I've tried this recently and it has made a tremendous improvement in my ball striking and flight. All the boys I play with have commented that they don't see that over the top swing anymore. I also used to take the club back too much on the inside and after watching another of your videos, I now am taking the club back square or to the outside which has encouraged me to reroute the club at the top, an opposite reaction if you will. I just wanted to take a moment and thank you so much. You're teaching method is so easy to understand. Thanks again!

Chris, although you are describing the position of the left hand through impact, this is the same as the right wrist being extended through contact. Is this wrist position maintained through to the finish?

Chris, what do you think about pre-setting the lead wrist bow, like Dustin Johnson does?

I find that if I'm hitting a half shot or lower I can control it well but as soon as I try to go to full speed that's when I have problems do you think this drill will help
