I just realized, after rereading this run of Batman, that this story arc is seemingly the reversed version of "I Am Bane". King parallels Bruce and Bane's backgrounds, or tragedies, and towards the end of "I Am Bane" Bane enters Arkham to retrieve psycho pirate. Bane enters Arkham and Maxi Zeus greets him by quoting the "Inferno, Canto 3" and William Blake's "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell". He fights off some villains and reaches the riddler. In "The Fall and the Fallen", Batman awakes in Arkham and is greeted by the riddler. He beats him and fights off the same villains, more or less, in the same order as Bane fought them when entering Arkham. This may very well be a hand me down version of "I Am Bane", but with Bruce acting more like Bane and Bane acting more like Batman.

Edit: Also, when Bruce was fighting his way out of Arkham he went on a monologue like talk directed towards Bane about why he's Batman in a similar vein to Bane when he entered Arkham.

I wish people realized all of this about King and his Batman much earlier, but then people were so high up on that promised wedding that they were practically blinded to all of King's awful writing. Now we'll have to live with this for 2 more years, and if King gets his way, he might ruin Batman for generations.

There's a reason the Hulk is overtaking Batman in comic sales. I think the main reason is a lot of batman fans really sick of Tom King's run, I'm really getting sick of this run myself at this point and I didn't even care about the wedding a lot of fans were hyped about because I have never liked catbat pairing, because as I see it that relationship has way too much baggage for it to work Bruce needs someone who can balance him not a woman who has a past that can easily come back to bite her. I'm really hoping once Doomsday Clock wraps up they will make sure to wipe this run from existence.

Well it's alright with me I've been reading Batman since 1972, I've been through good and I've been through bad I'm going to keep on with this book ...Tom King will be gone one day no writer absolutely no writer can ever run me away.
