Garages built back in the day used to be 24x24’…..contractors went cheaper and downsized to 20x20’ and then still charge more, even though most mechanically inclined people want a larger garage….got lucky with a 22’x21.5’ inside dims garage when I bought my house

garages should be 28 x 40x 14 high, a garage should have enough room for a hoist or storage tools etc

In Florida most garages are 19 x 19 and are horribly tight! I saw a new construction offering a 18 X 20 garage! eeek! Do yourself a favor and make the 20 X 20 your minimum. If you can, add a few more feet width to your drive way and you will be so happy. XO

20' wide was fair enough for those two vehicles, but the garage door should have been at least a 16' and ideally a 18" to avoid driving in/out at an angle.
