What You Need to Know About Garage Door Sizes

I see a lot of houses with 8' wide doors when looking for a new house. Why anyone would ever install an 8' wide instead of a 9' is beside me. It makes a huge difference is ease of use as most new cars are getting wider and Full Size SUV or pickup is a nail bitter to get through the door without doing a bunch of damage to your vehicle.

I always hear 18' as the maximum width for a double garage door. Does a 20' exist? I want it extra roomy for my dream garage, and I don't want two 10' doors.

Are you giving the widths for the garages or the doors? For example, at the start of the video when you are talking about the single car garage, you said the one in your video is 10' wide, is the garage door in the video 10' wide, or the garage stall width is 10' wide?

Normal clearances for garage door and motor is 16 inches finished for headroom in back room’s is door height plus a foot and a half
