Starship 24 Fully Stacked | SpaceX Boca Chica

Ship 24 was fully stacked in the High Bay today as SpaceX ramps up production ahead of the orbital test flight. Meanwhile, crews continue to work on Booster 7 at the Orbital Launch Site.

Seems appropriate somehow that the first orbital starship/booster would be numbered 24/7 in light of Musk’s non stop approach to space flight.

Might be my imagination, but I think they’ve change the tile arrangement at the point where they mate the ship sections. The edges of the untiled gaps are now far neater and a bigger space left between the tile sections to weld the joint too.

Well after reading the comments I have to agree with the GPS tiles look very very neat and orderly just hope they stay on when the rocket engines go off. It can look as pretty as you want it to be on the ground but if it gets fired up and the tiles fall off then it's going to be a loss of a ship upon reentry. I think they need to do a static fire of like 30 seconds or a minute to judge if the tiles are going to stay put or not.

Hopefully today(?) tests with B7 will go okay. I'm still find it very interesting they managed repair/replace the downcomer while still inside the rocket.

Looking at all the temporary pipe scaffolding they're using to gain access to the booster, I think at some point SpaceX will want to invest in a mobile service structure to "wrap" the booster for many kinds of simple repairs. Mercury (Redstone and Atlas), Gemini (Titan), Apollo / Skylab (Saturn V and Saturn 1b) and the Space Shuttle all had these on-pad service facilities that could surround all or part of the booster and spacecraft to reduce the need (and risks) of having to drag the booster back and forth from some hanger or the VAB for minor repairs or late change orders. SLS also seems to have skimped on this feature of previous programs and now they're having to pay the price by dragging the SLS back to the VAB for a number of minor booster and pad repairs that turned up during the first countdown demonstration attempts. Particularly with SpaceX wanting very rapid turnaround, it would seem they would want to invest in something like this even for things like quick tile repairs after a ship returns.
