How is GIF Even Pronounced? - GIFs and Dialects

Turns out, they're both correct! So, why is there even a dispute over how GIF is pronounced in the first place?

It's an Acronym, so the anomalous pronounciation of Griraffe should not effect it

In portuguese we have a clear distinction from initials ("sigla") and acronyms ("acrónimos"). Initials are spelled out and acronyms read as words

Here in Brazil every single person says with a hard G, even tho in portuguese grammar a g followe by an E or I only hard with a U between then. Which is funny because even been wrong (according to Portuguese rules) we Say it with a Hard G

It's pronounced khanubis? I've always pronounced it as an acronym, kei eitch Anubis.
