Beginners are allowed this Men strike (Center line of the head) on a stationary fully armored student like this here.
One of the good techniques here is to not over stretch your foot spacing. In more advanced classes, it will be different

This is a terrible strike; the hitting angle should be parallel to the top of the men.

You did not lift your arms high enough, proper form dictates you should see the target between your Kote as you cut Men. perhaps if you’re lucky you might get away with this in a taikai but in practice you should be stricter with your form.
