When I was young, I had a gaming console that had a big rectangular controller with a round knob at the top and a bunch of numbered buttons under it in a 3x4 grid. Each game came with a plastic card you could insert into the controller to replace the numbers with pictures of what the button did. It was huge and clunky and was very quickly replaced with better things, but back then they had no idea what they were doing.
Now we've got VR games where you actually throw imaginary objects to where you will be standing a few minutes later. This took 40 years. Blows the mind.
