"It is a dream I have" That line gets me every single time. Brilliant film.

The reason this hits so hard with so many people, is because we have all had our Guinevere's and we seldom ever forget it. Mine was 42 years ago, and it still is with me.

I just love the sense of prophecy and legend that this film emanates. It’s not cheap or commercial at all. It’s genuine. Very few adventure and mythic stories like this now.

Many a man has his Guinevere and longs for that time of lost love. Beautifully poetic.

The way she holds Excalibur like their child is deep.

The more I've seen this movie, the more I love the older Arthur's dialogue. Such wise words left and right. And doesn't Excalibur Look So Good In His Hands.
I've always felt this movie has such a dream-like quality to it.

Her final time seeimg him.

The last 20 minutes of this film pack such an emotional wallop.

I love how Excalibur as a movie shows that Arthur is truly a good king but also showcasing he has flaws. I think too many adaptions, and honestly a lot of the original legends from the mythos, focus too much on making Arthur more of a "bad guy" (for instance, the Lancelot Vulgate stories) when apart of the reason he has lingered so long in the consciousness is the idea he is the greatest King of Britain to ever live. This movie is the greatest Arthurian adaption IMO.

Excalibur was the film that introduced me to the music of Richard Wagner and classical music as a whole.

Great part of the movie. She knows she will never see him again.

I always like this scene: both of them are together and yet seperated emotionally and physically. Arthur, reborn from the Grail, has come to seek Guinevere for forgiveness and Guinevere is seeking forgiveness from God in the convent and, when both forgive each other, knowing they can't turn things back to what it was but both knowing that, for them, their duties come first but that, hopefully after, they can be together. Guinevere brings out Excalibur like a baby in a shawl. Although she couldn't bear an heir or a child to Arthur like they both wanted, Guinevere still gave him what he needed the most and cemented their bond as a couple even if they couldn't be together the way they wanted. Such an incredible scene. “It is a dream I have”. Love never really dies, and hope for that love lives with it

I agree with King Arthur "I was not born to live a man's life". A lot of us have gone through life questioning our purpose or if we forever dammed because we lack what our friends and family have. I believe our calling is something else, something special 🙏

My favourite scene of the film. So poignant and full of loss. The part where he talks about his life and then his hopes, "When I owe no more to the future...". Terrific stuff.

Arthur has grown wise. And has put all his hatred and rage of betrayal behind him.

In the history of cinema, this is one of the most perfect movies ever.

I never will forget the first time I saw this film as a young teenager. So many great scenes stood out to me and this one had me in real tears. I was not expecting her to have held onto Excalibur and the way she presented it to him as if presenting their newborn child sent chills down my spine and tears down my face. The ending, too, had me bawling like a baby so I was thankful I watched this alone lol. Gorgeously staged, written, directed, acted, just everything.

One of the best, if not the best, scenes between a man and a woman ever put on screen. It makes my cry EVERY! SINGLE! TIME!

I wish Star Wars movies were like this! This is other worldly.
